3 hours- probably not. 3 weeks might be an issue... Of course if it's a really really low-quality spring, you never know.

I suppose it would only cause a decrease in power, but maybe only a few fps drop in velocity. Should be negligible. Probably more of a longterm thing is what would damage the spring.

I consider a cocked gun unsafe.

It's not hard to uncock a rifle, at least most break barrel, underlever or PCP/CO2 rifle. I have no experience with sidelevers. I think i've once read that you can't uncock the FWB300S but I'm not very sure.

Yeah, I thought about breaking the barrel and pulling the trigger, but I didn't know what to expect. Don't need anymore scars either.

I didn't intend to leave it cocked, either. But it was pointed in a safe direction.

Brandon left his GSI kit Diana 34 coilbound for over a week and still shoots cpl at more than 875fps, down <30fps from the rebuild velocity.

Still just as accurate as well Twisted Evil

If you keep the lever all the back and pull the trigger, it should be fairly easy to uncock the rifle, but I can't guarantee the safety, as I don't know what rifle you are talking about.

Some sidelevers have a cogwheel meganis, which doesn't allow uncocking.

The thing is, that with heavy springers you have to be more carefull, as there may be a large "preload" (I'm almost sure there is a different term for this). I have hardly to no experience with this so take extreme caution. Best is to try it with a lighter rifle first, just so you know what to expect.

Well, I assume that once you pull the barrel back and then release the trigger, then all the pressure will go back into the barrel again in an instant. This shouldn't be too hard to control I wouldn't think.

However, I've made the mistake of thinking my rifle wasn't already cocked, so I go to break the barrel again and I use a fair amount of force anticpating the normal amount it takes to cock it and the thing flings open real quick. You'll know what I mean if you've done that before. That's the opposite of what un-cocking it is like I bet.

I once pulled a trigger when the gun was open, because I thought it wasn't cocked. It didn't fling in my face, but since then, I always took care of uncocking when I would.

My Slavia never has problems uncocking.

if you are talking about shoting it while it is cocked to uncock it, why dont you just put a pellet in it and shoot?

Because sometimes stupid people who should be at work decide to come early right as you cock the gun. And since they are not allowed to know that you shoot from inside, you cannot discharge the gun without risking them asking what the noise was.

Seems wierd I know, but that is the circumstance I'm in. Sometimes I wish I could just arbitrarily leave work early to go home and rain on someone elses parade, but I can't.

Your one strange fella...hate to be around you when you have a gun in your hands. You just don't seem like the type of guy who should even be near one.

As we say here..." you're a disaster waiting to happen".

Just my feeling after reading all your stuff here. Sorry!
