I love my little neighbor-friendly 880. It is so quiet and such an easy gun to pump.

.177cal Crosman Pointed 7.9gr
He was just begging for it as he continuously dug holes in my newly seeded lawn looking for nuts that he will NEVER find. Stupid squirrel. I put him out of my misery.
I was sitting on the back porch reading a good book with my little Daisy resting near me ready to go. These little buggers are so brave...I swear he asked me if he could borrow my book when I finished with it.

Haven't ever eaten one yet. My younger son wants me to skin one and put him on the grill. One of these days.
For now, he gets confinement in a Walmart bag...can't get much worse than that. |

Yeah, but what part are you noticing? Let's see...I added the squirrel count a little while ago and I update that as the squirrels volunteer. |

Good job on taking that nutter. The Ca. ground squirrels here are very tame.If you have food they will come right up to you. Can't eat the buggers though...they have fleas that carry Plague.
The tree squirrels is a different matter entirely.A tasty dish, and they seem to know it...
They're much more sketchy in behavior..."at least where I'm located"Noisy little suckers too..especially now that the trees next to my house are in bloom.
There is enough new growth that they jump from the trees to the roof.Just recently there were 3 or 4 on the roof chasing each other.....what a ruckus!Every now,and then I'll catch movement out of the corner of my eye, only to see a couple bolt past the bedroom window scurrying across the fence top.As a matter of fact I'm looking at one right now. He's about 5 yards out staring at me from the tree... |

5 yards, sounds like mine.
I remember when I was a teenager. My parents had bird feeders that the ground squirrels just wouldn't let alone. My dad's .22 LR took care of 'em. |

| I do that right now with starlings and tree rats both. Nothing like nursing a cold coke for an hour or so picking the little bastards out of the trees and bird feeders. Only starlings and squirrels though. I like the songbirds way too much. |

Yeah, I leave the birds and animals alone that do not have a hunting season. Song birds are off my list completely.
The interesting thing is...we recently moved to another state. We used to have a billion starlings and few squirrels. Not it's just the opposite. The squirrels are everywhere and I've only seen maybe a handful of starlings and english sparrows in the past few months. |

The tree rats here have tons of fleas, and they have ticks too. I see one a lot that lays flat down and rests on the dirt like a dog would.
The only time I see starlings are when they migrate south for the winter through the area in large masses during Nov for just a few days. There isn't a bug left in my yard after they're done with it, but there's probably a bucket full of bird turds in my yard though. |
