I almost bought that rifle, but I found out that it is a Chinese import. Like I said in my first post, I didn't want another Chinese gun. P.S. If you can't tell, I pretty new to the world of airguns. Except for the 22xx and Benjamin Discovery/Marauder and some pumpers, most of the stuff is either produced in Europe or China. Europe often means more expensive and, American stuff is in my opinion on the same quality level as Chinese guns, with some exceptions towards finish on some models. Maybe we're going at it from the wrong side, what is your budget, and what do you want to do with the rifle? _________________ BIG GAP   Posted: Thu Mar 25, 2010 10:21 am rsterne Moderator Joined: 15 Jan 2008 Posts: 2998 Location: Coalmont, BC I've never had a QB but I know a couple of guys who have tuned them every way from Sunday.... with excellent results.... For maximum performance on HPA, they seem to need a bigger valve.... and the 78 is a safer platform than the 79 because of the Tank Block mounting problems.... Of course the same solutions I used on the 22XXs will work there.... My next project is to learn all about the RWS/Hammerli 850.... Realy easy to convert to Bulk fill, including HPA. Well, I guess I would spend up to 300 on a good rifle if it were one that I just HAVE to have, and what I usually do with air rifles is target shooting. No serious competitions or anything, just plinking. I also enjoy shooting long range. I doubt that this 1760 will reach out to 100 yards in its stock form, but it doesn't matter so much. What I really want out of it is reliability and ease of shooting. Also, I have no problem with European made guns at all. The only reason I say "no Chinese guns" is because of all of the trouble that I went through messing around with a made-in-china Beeman. I figure if Beeman is willing to put their name on it, then there probably aren't any that are much better. Now when you see Beeman, you will KNOW you are buying Chinese.... Just as there are huge differences in other products (lathes, heavy equipment, etc.).... there are also big differences in Chinese Airguns.... BAM's better quality (ie more expensive) Clones are pretty good.... and in fact excellent value.... Airsonal: Too many to count!   Posted: Fri Mar 26, 2010 6:52 am BBgunNoob Veteran Member Joined: 18 Dec 2008 Posts: 327 Location: Pa the qb78 has a much nicer stock and its a lot cheaper, if i were to buy one it would be from archer airguns and i would pay for the gold service, which is that they take the riffle shoot it crony it and if there is any problems they fix it before the send it out, if your out for just plinking and target practice and want a good solid well made co2 gun look at the 2400 from crosman i bought mine from the custom shop for 114 with shipping and its beautiful light weight the trigger is extremely nice, and i'm getting 30 high power shots and 50 shots out of a co2 canister before it goes dead on me where i cant hit my target   Posted: Fri Mar 26, 2010 7:54 am TimB172 Member Joined: 23 Mar 2010 Posts: 23 Location: Saint Joseph, MO Well, thanks for the advice, but I already ordered the 1760 the other day. I think that it will do what I want, but of course not having it in my hands yet, it's hard to say. And believe me, there are other guns on my radar. I really like the looks of the Crosman Outdoorsman, and the 2240 pistol. I find the 1077 interesting too, but wouldn't expect great accuracy out of it. I have a Crosman 1760SE and it is the most fun gun to shoot I have when the weather is good and not bad even when the weather is in the low 60's. I also like the looks of the Crosman Outdoorsman but the narrow area at the bottom of the pistol grip where the stock continues kind of scares me as it is very small and looks week. Also the reviews of the Crosman Outdoorsman all seem to agree that the stock is not well finished.
