If it is set up for that.... my guess is that is has more parts different than just the barrel.... I'm thinking bigger valve and porting....
Either way.... the shot count will go down by AT LEAST the difference in power.... If a current MRod gives 30 shots at 30 FPE figure no more than 20 shots at 45 FPE....

And the ...mag / pellet probe..
Shot count..My Career at 45fpe gives about 20/24 shots
on the full power setting....& about 60 on the 400fps setting.
Maybe a bit diffrent to a .25 M as the career's a .22 & dose
45fpe @ 1220fps with a 14.5 grain pellet..
yer but somewhere in the low 20s seems about right..

ok, i just saw tim. he hasn't had his hands on one yet.
he believes it'll be 50ish fpe out of the box at 3000 psi.
he said in his opinion the shot strings should be the same
25-30 as .25 will be more air efficient than .22.
he doesn't think or believe any of the internals will be
any different. getting the barrels from him will be a while.
that's what the man said. |

OK.... so the suggestion is 25-30 shots of 50 FPE starting at 3000 psi shooting down to say 1500?.... and I now know that MRod reservoir is 215 cc (13.1 cu.in.)
13.1 x 1500 / 14.5 = 1355 cu.in. @ 1 Bar....
30 x 50 = 1500 FPE.... divided by 1355 = 1.11 FPE/c.i.... (for 25 shots, it would be 0.92 FPE/c.i.)....
OK, so let's say that's do-able.... My Disco runs anywhere from 1.0 to 1.2 FPE/c.i. depending on tune.... No reason to expect less from an MRod....
So what's with the .22 MRod?.... I just don't get it....
Same air usage.... 30 shots of what, 30 FPE?....
30 x 30 = 900 FPE.... divided by 1355 = 0.66 FPE/c.i....
Have I got these numbers all wrong?.... if so, please correct me (sniper?).... How many shots at what energy and from what pressure to what pressure are you getting?....

bob,
you have the numbers right based on what i have been told.
remember, my mrod out of the box was doing 27 shots +- 20 fps
from 2150 down to 1650 psi. that was at 28 fpe/kodiaks.
since i opened the velocity adjuster 1.5 turns out i've gained around
2fpe but lost around 3-4 shots per fill. i still haven't adjusted anything
else. when i told tim the numbers i'm getting at the same 1650-2150 peak he was surprised.
varmintair.com told me his .22 mrod was getting 30 shots +- 20fps
from 3000psi (down to what i'm not sure) at 30 fpe/18 grain jsb's.
beyond that your math formulas still make my head hurt.
i hope my answer was clear enough. |

Using snipers numbers....
27 shots at 28 FPE is 27 x 28 = 756 FPE
24 shots at 30 FPE is 24 x 30 = 720 FPE
2150 psi down to 1650 is only 500 psi (I'm surprised by that)....
13.1 x 500 / 14.5 = 451 cu.in. air at 1 Bar
756 / 451 = 1.67 FPE/c.i.
720 / 451 = 1.60 FPe/c.i.
That is EXCELLENT efficiency....

it certainly is.
tim also drilled out the baffles and endcap yesterday to 7mm.
i need to put it back on paper and see if it's less picky.
though his partner said a lot of them ONLY like kodiaks.
so far mine has 5 pellets that it likes from silver bears to EJ's.
i guess i have no complaints..... |
