I started on a 0.177" twisted barrel. Like the Sheridan did I use a brass tube as basic material. First I use a die to get the tube on the exact diameter I want. I developed a simple rifle cutter. So I am free to make my own twisted barrel in the right shape with the exact angle of twist. I know, other materials are more better and durable but if the barrel is wear away after thousands of shots (which I don't believe) I will just make another one in order to replace.
Robert.

Why not post some details on the construction of your cutter and how you controlled it evenly to get the exact cut/twist you desired? |

Yes, more details please. Your machine isn't too different in concept from what they used years ago:
Very cool indeed. Guys that rifle their own barrels are pretty rare - tell us more. |

Ok. Let’s start with the brass tube. The tube is from K&S #30. You can buy at a local model airplane shop. The tube has an oversized hole. To make the exact diameter I shrink the tube by pulling a die over it. You can shrink about 0,15mm each time. To get the die over the tube it is a must to take away some material (about 25mm) by using a lathe.

Haha, no, I pull the die over the tube with the same rifling tool as shown on the next picture:
At the begin of the tube i did solder a cone that will be fixed in the rifling tool. |

Nice piece of kit BlueFalcon. Do you need a different outer tube for different twists and do you make your own rifling bullets.

So do you clamp one end in the lathe and just use the carriage to pull it over the tube? |

Zip snipe if you look at the last photo the brass tube is turned down 25mm to get the die started, the die is then pulled up the barrel using the tool with the two threaded rods each side of the barrel, see first photo, as you turn the large thread it pulls the die up the barrel.
