Well I have had for a while in all sorts of diffrent flavors..
desided this is the flavor in like the best...

the numbers...
bore/stroke 53mm x170mm
swept volume 345cc
pre filled to 120psi from compresser 3000cc/3lts
compressed 204 times to give 145cc @ 3000psi...

max presure on piston head 12,000psi.
max force pushing piston 44,000psi
32,000psi over/above min requirement.

another week ..i should have a working pump..
If it works as I hope ..I will transfur it on to a
air over hydrulic jack ..so its just push a button..

Pete

Your getting there Pete.

Your like a dog with a bone when it comes to hydraulics, this could be a very interesting project. Thumb Up!

Let me see if I understand the numbers....

Swept volume = 375 cc (that's what I get using your bore & stroke)
Starting pressure 120 psi (from air compressor)
Ending pressure 3000 psi (204 Bar)
Compression ratio of booster = 3000 / 120 = 25:1
Output volume = 375 / 25 = 15 cc (not 145 cc)
(Using your swept volume of 345 cc it works out to 13.8 cc)

Did I make a mistake somewhere?.... I love the idea and was working on a similar idea for a while using parts from Princess Auto.... Where I ran into the problem was with the valving required because it would take nearly 10 strokes to fill a Disco, even if there was only a 10% pumping loss....

You can purchase pressure boosters that are air operated (120 psi in, 3000 psi out).... but they start at well over $1000.... The cost has to be somewhere....

LOL..No I did...375 is correct
145!... I missed the dot = 14.5cc

The other way I will use it is to boost the pressure
of the argon bottle when it drops to below a useable pressure
hook the argon bottle to it instead of a compresser..
could use a scuba tank as well then yer can use yer bottle
to almost empty....

Cool.

Even if it only pumps 15cc at 3,000psi... it's still quite a bit. What is the capacity of a Disco or Mrod? And how long does a full stroke cycle take? Even a slow stroke is still putting a lot of air in the gun. Might even be effective for a home fill on a SCBA setup... if you had an air purifier to remove all moisture.

A Disco reservoir is 135 cc.... an MRod reservoir is 215 cc....

That's not bad at all.

Now how long does a pump cycle take, Pete?

Hi..Now keep in mined you only shoot yer gun down to around half volume/ pressure..So a 215cc res will only require a a 107cc top up
around 6 or 7 stroke cycles...

I have not tryed but would think around 1 minute to do a pump cycle..
Depending how easy it is ...maybe possable to put a crank unit on it
so yer just wined a handle

If I got the math right.... 815 cycles for an 88 cu.ft. 3000 psi tank....

yer a tank would be a bit ambishus..
but if the tanks not empty/ just a few 100 psi top up its
possable...

Got the mounting flanges done along with
the piston & seal...Seal has a 2* tapper with
the top .5mm larger than the bore bottom
is size for size..there will be a filler plug in the cup
to desplace volume & hold the seal to the piston..
