I appreciate all the replies for help in the past.
Ya know..., I think I'm going to junk this Gamo Whisper. I had it shooting good for about a week. I started to think it was settling down but I did some shooting today at my target box at around 30 Yard and Pellets were ALL OVER!!! About 4" apart at the farthest 2 pellets.
3 or 4 days ago I put 4 shots thru bullseye, less than 1/2 inch, and I started to think this gun was gonna be ok. It sat in it's rest for a couple days and its way off. This is the second scope I've had on it. I'm sorry I bought this thing, I was new to airguns and got all caught up in the hype of the high FPS. I think I will just buy a more accurate rifle and start over. Something around 600-800fps. Any suggestions under $250.

P.S Is .177 more or less accurate than .22??

Don't be so quick to toss the gun Bud's,,,,,It's a GAMO, and that usually translates to a very pellet fussy gun, I remember almost pulling my hair out when I got my Recon, and I made the mistake of trying to get a scope sighted too. Every pellet I tried gave me a new grouping on the target. A good way to see if it's pellet fussy, Is to take 4-5 different pellet brand's. and 5 pellet's from each, and see how far the spread is between the brand's. I gave up on Crosman, Gamo, Daisy pellet's, and upgraded to some of the "Euro" brand's, H&N being the best, I went from never hitting the bull's to hitting them everytime. I don't know why Gamo rifles are so pellet fussy, I have an Idea it's caused by the thinness of the barrel, and the polymer "Bull" jacket. Never pick up one of these jacketed barrel type gun's by the barrel, I think it would be pretty easy to leave a warp, or curve to the barrel. Anyway's, Hope this help's. Cheer's, Andy.

I would tend to agree- if you had it shooting well- but now it won't- something changed. Perhaps the pellets, perhaps the way you are holding it, perhaps something internal- maybe as simple as lube that has leaked into the chamber while it sat causing minor dieselling, or something more complex like a piston seal that needs to warm up before doing its job properly.

I've found that the Beeman pellets are pretty consistant and have settled on them for most of my guns. I like the Lasers for light and the heavy Kodiaks you know. (I do use the PBAs for some co2 guns and such). Any way just my 2 cents worth, I've had a lot of success with the Beemans.

One good thing, at Pyramyd the Beeman cost less than the H&N. I really don't care who makes them if they perform....thanks for the info.

How long have you been shooting for .I have had dozens of guns brought to me be cause the owners could not make them group .Most off the time its the owner not the gun or the pellet let someone else's try to get a group and see what happens .

Give RWS Super Domes a try I use them in all my GAMO rifles and swear by them They are also the correct weight so are safe for the spring.

I shot air guns years ago. I had a Crosman leaver action back in 1967 or 8, can't remember a model number. The leaver loaded a pelet, (you had to use wad cutters as they loaded front to back) and cocked the hammer. You could then shoot the gun or pull the hammer back a further notch to increase the power. I also had an early version of the 1322, beside Marksman and Daisy guns. At the same time I had a couple of rimfires etc. Over the years I got away from airguns and shot powder burners, even went through a period where I bow hunted every year.

I ended up disabled a few years ago (bad knees, sholders so on) this knocked me out of work. It also took me out of the woods. I got back into air rifles that I could shoot in the back yard (leagly).

So, I learned to shoot and handle guns safely starting at age 4 (my dad and grand dad taught me). I had my first bb gun at eight, multiple bb and pellet guns through my early teens and my first .22 at 16. I'm 56 now and got "back" into air guns a few years ago. That was when I got my first springer, but I still like co2 guns as well. I suppose I'm hooked on them now, but hey, it could be worse! As addictions go it's better than chemicals.

How about everybody else? How long have you been shooting? Howed you get started?

Is the Gamo Whisper at least quiet? My Gamo Shadow isn't exactly loud, but I'm curious as to how much it dampens the sound.
