Whats happening folks? New guy here to the forum.I'm in the market for me a good pellet gun.I've had plenty of pellet guns growin up but never really had a good pellet gun.All i've ever had was off the shelfers from Wal-Mart and such.A guy I know has one of the pellet guns that has a cylinder that you pump up with a hand pump and and you can shoot severaly shots with one fill.Do these have a specific name? I only shot it once and don't really know a whole lot about it.Whats the pros and cons of these guns? I'd like to have one like that but I'm not dead set on them.I have'nt looked at any of them because I don't know where to find any,plus I figured they would be a little pricey.One gun that I am a little interested in is a Beeman SS1000T in the BassPro catalog.

Give me some suggestions.I'd like to order one this week if I can pick one out.I'd kinda like to stick around in the $200 or less price range if possible.

The rifle your talking about is a "PCP" this is short hand for "Precharged Pneumatic". It's a sort of a world of it's own in airgunning due to the greater cost. Benjamin has just come out with a more budget PCP gun that includes its own pump in the deal. It's not as powerful as some PCP guns. You can hunt deer with a PCP gun if you want to spend the money for one powerful enough.

I'm in my 50s (closing in on the sixth decade) and don't get out in the woods so much anymore, so I don't usually put the money into these. if i were "well off" I would probably shoot them anyway as "a lot" of them (not all) can be very well made and impressive.

I shoot mostly "springers" and some co2 now. The key is...what do you plan to do with the gun? There are springers that will do very well for small game and targets. In co2 if you plan to hunt your selection shrinks a bit.

I'd suggest you go to a good on line retail sight or two and look at the available guns for what you are interested in doing. Then come here and ask around about specific guns. Go to some review sights and look at what's said about that gun.

If you'd like more advice, write back here and mention what you want to do with the gun and I'm sure you'll get a wealth of suggestions. After all, we all have out favorites......I'll be happy to tell you mine!

One thing to note: those Beeman 1000-series guns are their lowest-end items.

If you want a gun you don't have to fiddle with, and should suit your purposes for awhile, think manufacturers like "Diana", "Weihrauch" and the Beeman "R" series which are Weihrauch's with the Beeman name on them. There are plenty of decent guns out there, but picking a cheap $100-ish gun isn't likely to satisfy you- although at least the Beeman 1000-series guns are reasonably accurate, even if they're not well built or powerful.

Any idea what main purpose/use you would have for the gun at this point? This might allow people to give you better advice.

Thanks for taking the time to post.Its mainly for killing birds and squrriels and shooting targets when I have company.Biggest thing right now is the black birds that are comstantly in my trees.My dad gave me a little cheapo one year as a Christmas gift and it's not too great.Its a AccuAir Force 1100 177. caliber.It would probably be fine with me if it would shoot a decent group and had a decent trigger.Plus I would just like to upgrade.I'm just looking for something to have fun with and show off to my buddies when where in the backyard grilling.I do want something my freinds would be impressed with,haha.I know theirs not a $200 gun that would impress most of you guys but my friends don't know anything about pellet guns except what they see at Wal-Mart.

Welcome to the forum.

AirgunEric hit the nail on the head. Those are the brands to
look at. I'ld wait a while and maybe save up for one.
In the end you will glad that you did. Anything else will
probably be a disapointment. Do you have a picture of
your AccuAir Force?

If you're set at around $200- my first two choices would be these:

Not necessarily from PyramydAir- but wherever you find convenient. Those two guns are probably the best "bang for the buck" with some amount of quality, they are both .22 cal for hunting small game/birds, and very few people can find legitimate criticisms for either of them. You just need to decide on what you prefer- single shot break barrel, or multi-shot Co2 (Co2 costs a few $ to buy).

And- it looks like that "Accushot" is basically a BAM B18- i.e. a Crosman Quest- which is definitely a gun that needs tuning to perform well.

I think I would rather go with a break barrel over pump or c02.I really would'nt mind having one of those PCP guns but I think thats going to be out of my range.I was thumbing through the for sale forum and noticed someone posted a link for some RWS 92 and 93's for $100 and $150.Then I noticed the link is from a gun shop 10 minutes from my house.How crazy is that? Anyways,how good of a deal is this? How much are they normally and is this a good gun? I'll probably go look at them tommorow one way or the other just thought I'd get some thoughts on it first.

They're good guns- but who knows if the guy still has any- that was 4 months ago. Probably wouldn't hurt to pay the place a visit and see- and then let everyone know if there's any other deals to be found there!

Just found another that I'm very interested in.I looked up the Benjamin Sheradin Guns and they do have a kit with the PCP.Price is $379 shipped and comes with the pump.It's more than I wanted to spend but I might can squeeze it out of the wife.This may be the one I want to go with.Whats your thoughts?

Hasn't been enough "neutral" buyers of it for a good, unbiased review.

In the event you hadn't caught it, there is a whole, almost "sub culture" of people who LOVE Crosman- no matter what sort of crap they produce. The view, typically, is "I don't expect a top-level gun at bargain basement prices, so I will buy this Crosman and spend my time fixing it up". That being said, 99% of all Crosman's these days are "projects" in the waiting- and the only people that ran out to buy the B-J Discovery so far have been the real Crosman fans- so I personally have yet to come across a proper review of one untainted by this cult-of-Crosman mindset. Unfortunately, it seems that Crosman still has a noticeable backorder on these guns- so it may be awhile before the Crosman loyals are satisfied and someone not-so-Crosman concentrated reviews one properly.

About the only thing I can suggest about the Discovery is that it's price is certainly low- so it might be worthwhile as a sort of "starter" PCP. But, as the last 20 years have shown, Crosman tends to fall short in the QC department on most of their products- so there may be some work involved in getting such a gun to perform to its full potential.

Get your hands on a Slavia 630, 631, or 634. Widen the (can) spring-guide a bit (thrusting a pen trough it helped in my case) and then lube the whole thing up. You'll have a pretty little shooter, that is easy to work on. Mr. Green

Get a Diana Panther .22 cal. Don't have one myself but they look pretty good and its a reliable brand. You'll be dropping black birds out of your trees like toilet seats.
