| Howdy Folks, I`m wondering what your experience`s are with springers and benches. Meaning do you put your springer on the a regular rifle rest with a bag for the stock and shoot without problems or not. |

Seems to depend on the specific gun (talking about springers here)- some want a super-firm hold, others you can practically balance on your fingertips.
Any specific rifle you are talking about using a bench with? |

No particular model I`m asking about it`s a general question. Just wanting to see if other people have the same results as I do. Example would be I have a
crosman 6500 and if you put it on a bench with a rest {using a Bald Eagle front rest and a regular rear stock bag} most scope`s will be destroyed in less than 20 pellets. If you shoot that same rifle offhand it never has a problem. If I put the TX200 on the bench using the same setup you can`t hold under a inch to save you from h___ @18yds if you pick it up, and rest your hand on the rest and use the rear bag to support your trigger hand it shoots fine. So I`m aware that different rifles require different techniques.
My FWB 124 you can shoot it off the bench with excellent results, no scope movement, no point of impact change, no broken reticles, had the same scope on it for 30yrs Tasco World class Japan made. TX 200 has already taken out 2 scopes 1 Tasco world class Japan made, 1 leapers compact. |

Hi Desert Rat I have a TX and I find it shoots best rested on an old rolled up towel, the type used in roller towel machines, using one of these it will shoot ragged holes at 25m, I also have a leather front support filled with sand, the TX shoots well on this but not as good as the towel.

I have a RWS model 34 JM tuned with recoil pad and using the proper hold it shoots like a dream.

I use a heavy-duty folding card table and two sets of shooting sandbags I got from Wal-Mart.
For any air rifle I use two bags --- one on top of the other --- under the forearm and a third bag under the stock just a couple of inches forward of the butt plate. I slide the bag under the stock forward or back if I need to aim higher or lower, respectively.
I shoot right-handed. I do not grasp the forearm with my left hand, but make a fist with it and place it, palm down, on the table behind the rifle with it up against the butt plate. I grasp the rifle normally with my right hand and put just a slight pressure back against my left hand (about the same pressure you put against your shoulder if you are shooting a shotgun). I squeeze the trigger normally.
Although this doesn't sound like it is a very stable "bench," with a little practice I have discovered that it works great for all of my air rifles: the springers do not seem to shoot down as a result of the reverse recoil and my CO2's are almost motionless. Also, because the springers move normally, and are not held in place rigidly, I have an old Powerline scope which continues to work great. |
