To All,
I live in a typical American neighberhood.Rows of houses for blocks at a time.Lot sizes very from very small to very large.Mine is approximatly
60 ft. deep and 110 ft wide.With neighbors to either side and behind me.
The ones behind me to either side I do not know very well, but as many as 4 or 5 houses down from where I shoot can see what I am doing.I try to keep my trap as quite as possible same with my rifles.
I have to take very much caution as to what those neighbors who don't know me very well think as to what I am doing with a rifle in the back yard.I have came up with a proven method of disguise that works very well.It was tested yesterday while out shooting my 48 into the trap.Three homes down in the back of me a lady came out with her dog while I was shooting. Of course the dog heard the shots and began to bark."I don't think she did", She came to take a look as to what her dog was barking at! She seen me standing there with my 48 "with disguise" in rest position across my body,she yelled down you got a new toy for Christmas Huh? (ME) Yep its a airsoft gun I responded
{she} Gee! If it wasn't for that orange thingy on the end of it I would have thought it was a real gun.(I'm thinking! and probably called the Police!!) {she}"They make those things look so real you know"
{me}Yep they sure do.
{she} Well don't miss and hit my dog OK?{me}Dont worry if I see your dog is out I'll hold off my shooting until he goes back in the house.{she} "Well thats real thoughtful of you,you know I love my dog like a little kid"
{Me} Yea I know I had one and when it died it killed me for a week or better and I never got another one for that reason}
{she} Well,,, good shooting! Bye,Bye!.}

I shoot at home. I have made a pellet trap but its not that good in reducing the noise level. My brother has tested the sound level when i am shooting in the house. I told him to stand outside the house and pay close attention on the sound, he said its very very minimal but i am still trying to reduce the sound.

i shoot in my bedroom so nobody is able to see me and the room is in the far corner of the structure so shouldn't be a problem for my neighbour. but many a times i think .. what if i come across this scenario :

{me} : Shooting happily and suddenly neighbour turns up.
{neighbour} : I hear sounds like gun shots, are you shooting at home ?
{me} : uh uh aa .. yes its just an airgun.
{neighbour} : Holy sh!t i am also very fond of shooting and have airguns at my home, i was not shooting it just coz i was scared if you might call the police, lets shoot together..

You supprise me there bob especialy when "you" live in the land of the free, over here you can shoot an airgun on your property provided you do not discharge it within 15m of the center of a public highway, and the pellets do not stray outside you property.
Whats the law there are you not allowed to shoot on you own property, and if the neighbors complain to the cops can they do anything about it?.

I shoot most days in the back garden, and some of the neighbors know I use airguns, but I do use silencers on all of then, so far no problems but you have to be carefull about stray pellets, because no matter how much care you take occasionally you get one bounce off the grass or the edge of a target, but it is still contained in the boundaries of my garden, luckily no damage done.

Because of young kids shooting out windows and pets most citys passed laws 25 years ago that states "No discharge of a fire arm within City Limits."
A fire arm is by law any thing that can shoot a projectile out of a barrel/bore, whether it be by gun powder, compressed gas,air,or from a spring or other device.They covered all the bases but have not bothered airsoft guns because plastic bb's will not do no damage.
I even keep a bottle of airsoft ammo sitting on the bench.Bright pink ones at that! Anyone looking from a distance sees that big ole bottle of ammo and turns there head and laughs. ( stupid old man with a airsoft toy)
I have a similar trap except mine is 14X14X14 1/8th Alum. stuffed with carpet and old clothes.mostly old denim blue jeans..Very quite.Just a poof
when hit.The damn paper makes all the noise.And you know we in USA are not allowed silencers.Thats an automatic 15 years in jail or a $250,000 fine and they can give you both. Shitty laws but we have to live by them.

So The land of the free is not so free
And since 9/11/2001 it has gotten worse.
That really screwed alot of our freedoms.
But I still love America!!

My yard is very similar in size to yours. My longest shot is about 35 yards which is still challenging for me. What is the law about being close to the highway? Our lot is on the other side of the highway fence across the alley...I am very careful and we just had a privacy fence put in so I think I am ok neighborwise.

BTW, BBGun Bob, is that the Beeman Muzzle Brake under that tape? Looks just like mine.

Then, along comes neighbor's dog, barking at him- and poor old Bob, tired of listening to it, heat and drink getting to him, smacks a couple pellets from his "airsoft" rifle into the dog's butt. Eek

Then, somebody calls the cops... NoNoNo

Next thing you know, Bob's on the evening news holding his pet dove and trying to explain he does love animals, really. Giant Grin

Rules of engagement concerning airguns here are pretty much that your projectiles stay within your own property. After that, it's pretty much all allowed. This is kind of weird, since big bore airguns are also not prohibited here. Picture someone with a big bore shooting in his 15 meter back yard, missing the back stop, and who knows what may happen.
