Last night I got the crazy idea to take the compensator that comes with the Umarex .177 Beretta XX-Treme and wrap it in aluminum tape in the hope of reducing the report.

Here's what I ended up with:

The tape is aluminum foil, with quite a strong glue on one side. On the glued side is a tape of thin waxed paper. Instead of just taping the compensator, I made rings of the tape still with the waxed paper backing and slid them over the compensator.

To my surprise, the report volume was actually reduced by about 50-60%.

To test if the accuracy was affected, I fired 8 shots at 5m at a 3" diameter round target. (Indoors, power setting 1 on scope, two-handed). I was using Crosman .177 Premier Hollow Points.

This is what I got:

I got a bit shaky on the last 3 shots, so they're about half an inch off from the rest, but this is probably the best accuracy I've ever achieved with this gun.

(I took the week 26 target out Sunday and only shot a 13/150... Embarassed )

Any way you can shrink those pictures so people not using a 1280x1024 or higher scrren resolution can see them without stretching off the screen? They need to have a maximum width of something under 800 pixels, or be loaded using the "add image to post" function when posting or editing.
