I'm not sure about these "safety flags"? What do you do, stick them in the breech or something to show that its open?
My range was so dumb. I brought my own target, a shoebox, but wasn't allowed to use it. Instead they made me use one of their own 2x4 framed cardboard targets. Luckily, I brought my own sticker targets and began attaching them to the card board. The safety officer had the nerve to come out there and first told me the target was "backwards". This made no difference at all. Then he started telling me that I was sticking the targets too close to the edge of the frame. I was doing it intentionally so I could see where the pellet was hitting if it missed the target. The middle of the card board was so riddled with holes I'd never be able to see where my misses were landing.
I eventually realized that all of their procedures were based around firearms and not airguns. They don't want you to shoot through the frames and break it, but obviously a pellet couldn't do that. |
A flag is the one which goes into the chamber of the gun indicating that its empty and its a bright yellow in color so its visible from a distance.
hey i think we are diverting the topic here.. sorry about that.. back to the original topic.
Thanks. |

| Yeah, I think the topic about the squirrels is dying. No pun intended. |

The original topic isn't the only thing dying. I took down another squirrel this morning. Looked like a pretty clean head shot, but this one was able to make it about 20 ft. before he died. |

Better than a pic, I have video! I just have to convert from MPEG2 to something I can upload to Youtube.
My official squirrel count is up to 5, with another unconfirmed because he was able to run far enough away that I can't say if he was going to die or not. I may have just grazed him. That's actually the shot I have on video.
Another interesting thing I learned this weekend is that squirrels are cannibalistic! I shot 1 of 2 squirrels that were running around my yard chasing each other, and the survivor started eating the dead one. That was kind of freaking me out. I tried a shot at the cannibal but he was pretty far into my neighbor's yard and I missed him to the left and didn't feel like shooting multiple times onto my neighbor's property. They'd probably be a little weirded out by 2 dead squirrels piled up in their backyard. |

Ground squirrels are, but I don't know about foxes or greys. I saw a video of a guy who capped one and it's companion imediately ran over and looked like he was giving him CPR, but it turns out he was trying to rip into him to eat him.

But one dead squirrel with a bullet hole in its head would NOT wierd them out? LOL
I know what you mean though. I've shot some birds which slip over the other side of the fence into my neighbor's yards. Most times I'm not able to jump over and recover them. I just hoped that they would decompose enough by the times they found them that they would not be able to tell why the birds died. Some have dogs which they might attribute to the bird's death too.[/quote] |

Here's the vid of the squirrel that got away this weekend. The first shot missed completely, but he was kind enough to come back for a second chance, which I again screwed up. I definitely tagged him, but he looked fine running away so I guess no major damage.
