A question to anybody who has both of these pistols. Can you interchange the CO2 piercing cap/knob between these two guns? I have a S&W 79G that is missing the cap which I cannot find for sale anywhere. The screw thread and diameter of the cap is not any size that is available anywhere either. Will a Crosman 2040 CO2 cap have the same thread and diameter as the S&W 79G? If it does, maybe I can rig it up to fit. |

Yes, they will interchange. I have done it with the Mark 1 and the S&W79G.
Check JG Airguns. I believe he has the part you need. |

Thanks JonahStark. I have contacted JG airguns and they said they could not help me because they don't have the cap in stock at the moment. I will try to find a Crosman Mk1 that my friend gave away to someone, maybe I can work a trade for it. That gun also was not working but it had the piercing cap on it. |

Hey, I got another S&W 79G on an auction site. Now I have two of them and can use the one piercing cap for both. I am changing all the seals on both guns too. It is an easy gun to take apart and restore. |

dodiman,
funny thing, I just got another 79G that I will have to reseal. Don't need two, but what the heck. I'll have fun with it also. |

Glad that you also got another S&W 79G. I hope all goes well with your seal changes. I have a couple of recent Youtube videos on it, the ones that are not in Spanish. |

Just found a 78G to add to the collection. Had to reseal it also and this time decided to try my hand at resealing the exhaust valve stem. worked like a charm. |
