Not sure if this has been covered, I did a quick search and didn't find anything. Maybe a link if it was please...
I have two Umarex pistols that use the Rotary Mags. Total of 10
I've saw a vid (though not of the Umarex Mag) where the person modified the mag so the pellet would drop right through. Not sure I think that's the right idea...but really don't know.
What's the reason for having such a high tolerance fit between pellet to mag?
Would it be beneficial to have a lower tolerance ? Say just enough to not let it move? Has anyone measured the force/tolerance between a pellet and a rifled barrel? Is it the same as the mag? Might have to bring out a digital scale if it hasn't been done...
Okay that's enough for my first post...LOL |

I haven't checked on my Umarex pistols for this. But, maybe the mags size the pellets smaller than the bore. The pellets would then not engage the rifling that well. It all depends on the particular gun, I suppose. |

If you make the magazine holed bigger the pellet could slid forward and jam the magazine, this in turn strip the indexing lugs. Don't do it! |

I have an Umarex Berretta PX4 Storm that has the 16 round stick mag and can fire pellets and bb's. The pellets fit real tight with no lose fit. The tighter the tolerance the more force and thrust you get when the pellet fires. Why would you even want a lose fit? You'd be wasting co2 and the gun would be firing at a lower FPS. |

Although this might hold true for the barrel...not sure a high tolerance fit between pellet to mag would add to any FPS of the pellet.
After watching this YouTube vid. It got me wondering. "start @ 4 mins.

This might be a little extreme and would not work on a Umarex mag...that's why I stated in my original post.

Anyway I have some extra Mags on order. I might modify one and test it with my friends Chrony. |
