Decided to make my BT NP into a carbine. Its a huge pistol to begin with, and I dont like the cocking assist.
I made an extended shroud for the barrel. No cocking effort now at all. I am going to add an AR 6 position stock to the rear.
The buffer tube is a bit too wide, so I will turn it down and pin it in the rear of the compression tube in place of the stock end cap.

I think I also would enjoy it more as a carbine. What do you have planned for sights? |

Most likely a scope. Might go red dot. These old eyes dont work that well with irons anymore. |

Photo came out crappy, will have to take a better one in the daytime.
I turned down the rear end cap, and press fit it into the castle nut along with JB weld. The buffer tube can be unscrewed from the rear cap allowing the entire stock to come back off at will. |

Is it strong enough to cock if holding the stock- or must the pistol grip/main body of original pistol be held to cock it? I'm just curious more than anything... |

Haven't tried that since the grip is more natural, but the cocking effort is so low now that I dont think that would be a problem.
Edit: tried it, works fine. |

I sure like the looks. Is there enough "meat" to the fore end to come in from the side with a sling mount? I see the butt already has one. I think you're right about a scope or red dot. Besides the issue of "old eyes" that rear sight sits pretty low compared to the cheek rest. Much cooler looking as a carbine. |

The butt has a sling mount. If I was going to add one I would use a single point mount that fits the scope rail.
I have one on my NP B18. |

I actually turned my assist into an LDC. Works quite nicely. |

Unfortunately in Canada, we are not allowed to do that. As a result all of my shrouds are hollow. |
