of your Chinese guns to finace a good used tuned German air rifle.
I bought a RWS 48 .22 Cal that was tuned by Jim Muccari for $200.00.
It was in mint condition with a couple of pressure marks on the stock(not noticable).
This bad boy is not pellet sensitive or hold sensitive! Put a target out there at any distance you like(with in reason) Thunk!! there goes another bullseye.I do not have a crony but have the paperwork from JM that came with it showing 860 FPS around 20-21 FPE with Crosman CPH pellets.I have made my Chinese guns shoot almost as good( with new .20 cal Lother/Walther barrel) but it cost me just as much money and after its all said and done I still have a Chinese Gun.
Just a suggestion for you to consider and something to think about while your on the cool down cycle.
HW's and Dianas are the most powerful and accurate rifles you can by and shoot right out of the box.

his problem was he came into the game thinking that he could shoot like Allen quartermain (the guy from LXG hitting things @ 900 yards) and never took the time to practice....at least that is what i get from his posts... you should never start with a scope learn to shoot with iron sights be able to shoot @ 30-40 yards with them and then hunt if you need tips on hunting there are some in the hunting section, anything else you need advice on just ask...ok? dont give up so easily get rid of the damn scope and use the iron sights you have to start with the basics

I agree outdoorsman,I never used a scope until my eyes finally got so bad I could not focus on the sights and target at the same time.I still test a new or or new to me used rifle with iron sights @ 15 meters. If its got problems you will know it right away.If it is consistant and shoots in the same place with the iron sights and then you add a scope and its all over the place you know where the problem lies. The scope or the way its mounted.
"Like the old saying goes never put the carriage before the horse"
And Practice Practice Practice never hurts.Even the guns I have that are pellet sensitive will shoot them in a acceptable manner once you figure out what the pellets are doing with that particular gun.I have learned to listen also! Your rifle has sounds of it own it can tell you alot.By learning your gun and becoming one with it while shooting always helps.
No headphones, chewing gum or Fu#*king around it takes total concentration.

But all air guns can be mastered
How Bad you want it is another matter

Thanks guys. Well, I've shot with scopes for years and usually I'm about as good as the scope or gun will let me be. Shooting does take constant discipline and I'll admit that I've probably pulled a few shots due to lack of concentration, but there's more to it than that. Something else is wrong.

The whole point of me spending a hundred bucks extra was to get a better scope than what the gun came with. If I thought I'd be worse off, then I would've just taken a $50 bill, set it on fire, then kicked myself in the balls and called it even.

Hey Roger don't get uptight about you shooting, it only makes it worse, and thats why airgunning can be very flustrating at times. You've got to relax, if your wound up you will never hit anything.
The next time you go shooting pull the gun into your shoulder then ease off, let the gun find its own position, just rest the forestock on you hand and lightly hold the trigger grip, lift your cheek off the ckeek rest so it is just touching, then squeeze the trigger, let the gun kick don't try to restrain it. And with a bit of luck you may start to hit what your aiming at.

I know it's easy to say how to shoot a springer and a 100 people will tell you something diffrent, but this works for me. Thumb Up!

The recoil on that stupid thing is ridiculous. The trigger is so stiff that it doesn't just slowly go off. It's like it slowly pulls back and then hits a wall of resistance and then when I break through it fires and kicks up something fierce. It feels like I'm am pulling the shot when I fire, but I know it is just the recoil doing that.

you haven't done a trigger job on it.?????My Quest was the same way , I took the trigger apart as part of the tune process and it now travels less than 1/4 " and breaks at less than 1 pound,no wonder you can't hit sh!t!!!
Come-on guy you are not that dumb not to do a trigger job are you??
If you do not know how,, get a Macarri GTX trigger for $35.It drops right in.
Your problems will be solved.

Yeah, I've never messed with replacing or modifying triggers. I knew that you could do that and that lower quality airguns have rough trigger pulls to begin with. Maybe I'll look into it then.

I don't know if that would be wise for you Rogerflat. I mean since you're accident prone...you'll probably hurt yourself.

Maybe just get a slingshot. I got one and am a fair shot with one, even got a couple of partridges with it. Then again they can hurt when a band snaps.

Maybe just throw rocks. Laughing

Smartasses.

Definetly look into a trigger modification/upgrade- you can't really go wrong when the trigger pull is like 6lbs to start.

Airguns are a real can of worms, and a bit of a catch 22. They aren't powerful enough to hunt large game with for the most part, but small game requires high accuracy. I have a spanish gamo that I've had tuned that shoots Ok now, but certainly doesn't over impress me. A .22 short rifle has way more power, much better accuracy, is easier to shoot, weighs less, costs less, and is almost as quiet! I've pretty much abandoned the notion of hunting with the Gamo because the wound rate is too high for me to feel good about pulling the trigger, but I still like plinking at cans that are within it's accurate range, like maybe 25 yards.

Yeah, I too have a gamo and I got a new gun (the .22) for more power. I was not rendering kills everytime so I figured I'd get a larger caliber air rifle. Well, at first it was dropping birds like toilet seats, but then I started having accuracy issues and wounding or missing a lot of them.

I remember squirrels being pretty tough customers when it comes to killing them with air rifles, but at least you might get a second or third shot on the run if you wounded it. A bird that can still fly is gone before you even grab the next pellet.

I wouldnt mind getting my hands on a RWS 52 or 54 either. A little more power, a lot more accuracy, and a much higher quailty rifle.
