When out shooting I always take a camera usually a digital compact, but some times you need something bigger and that’s a problem, what with carrying a gun, lunch box and other bits and pieces.
So I made a belt clip that will hold a dslr camera and keep it out of the way when not needed, the clip will hold any type of camera and lock it in place, so it will not fall out no matter how much you run or jump about. When needed the camera can be released in a matter of seconds, ideal for taking wildlife or aircraft photos.
The clip itself locks in an adapter that screws on to the camera tripod mount, the camera can be pushed into the clip even when the lock is on, as it will move over when the camera is pushed in then spring back and lock the camera to the clip.
I know you can buy these type of clips but I have never seen any as compact as my design.
If anyone is intrested in making one I'll post the details.

Post away! I can see more uses for that then just a camera. Add a stud to a 13xx/24xx pistola and who needs a holster? |

If for hunting why not just put the cammera in your back pack? You need the pack any way as you are going to be hiking for days or weeks. |

I do use a back pack, but I hunt close to a military bombing range and one of my interests is military aircraft, and when they appear at 500mph at 100feet you do not have time to unpack a camera. The whole idea is that it is handy all the time, the same as a gunslinger doesn't keep his colt 45 in his saddle bags

I used stainless steel for the body of the unit, aluminium for the camera mount and brass for the rest, but you can use any suitable material. The only thing missing on the drawings is a spring between the locking bracket brass pin and the small brass pin and two screws to join the front plate to the back plate.
I have not put dimensions on the drawing as the size depends on the type of belt used and the camera size, but my unit measures 40x45x11mm.
