Hello Everybody,

By chance I came across this forum, I was looking for a part for an airgun, a Hy Score 800, wich I could not find in Holland.
Probably this type off guns has not been sold in Holland, mine was bought some 30-40 years ago in the US by a relative off a friend off mine when he visited the States decades ago.
Spare parts therefore are rare I guess at this side off the ocean..
Member 1644 on this forum had just the part I needed and kindly send it over so my Hy Sccore is complete again after many years!!!( thnxzz John!)

I started reading more around here and hope to find more info about the five Us made guns I owe, I have a Sheridan Silver Streak, Blue Streak and a C9, also an EB20 and the mentioned Hy Score.
Three Weihrauchs, a Polish Predom Lucznik, a Haenel 310 and an old Chinese airgun complete my arsenal...many off these guns I restaurated myself wich is a big part off my airgun disease....

I live at the coast off Holland on the left side off Amsterdam in a small town and have luckely a big garden( for this part of Holland) in which I like to shoot on everything that can be wrecked...no serious competitions but just for fun.

I got the virus already in my youth but my mom kept wisely every sort off airgun far away knowing what would happen if I got one.......
Many year later I got my garden and the virus broke out in xxl proportions!
As usual it started with one piece and now....well, probably I'm going to smuggle in some more guns in my home, a Sheridan HB 20 and the Hy Score 802 are on my "I like to have someday"list.. and when people know you repair these things, in many cases you come across hidden treasures!
My girl already gave up on this as long as I stash them on the loft.. Mr. Green

So, I greet you all and hope to be able to give some nice input or get some usefull info on my questions in the future.

Yeah, I have a nice set of plinking gear, most of them for outdoor use but both handguns and the Haenel are ideal for upstairs...
Luckely we have no limit for the power of airguns yet so I like to try to have my Weihrauch shoot as hard as possible, hihi..one of my HW35's has a bit shortened spring of a HW80 inside wich gives a nice result..... Laughing

So, always busy with them when I have the time....grtz San

Hello Dutch Lead. So you got the airgun affliction, in a good way, too. You mention Hy Score, something I haven't heard or seen in a long time. They were sold in a lot of mail order catalogs 30-40 years ago in the US, mostly the cheaper stuff though (rebranded Diana airguns). Please share your thoughts here.

Hi Dobiman,

Well, the Hy Score....when visiting a friend, she came with this funny gun when I mentioned my disease.
Her brother bought it when visiting the US a long time ago.
The moment I saw it I wanted it!
I did not know the type, brand and age at that time, altough I am a member of a popular Dutch forum about airguns, I never saw pics or info about it.
When testing it, I was surprised about the power for such a small gun.
I had an RO71 break barrel pistol but it shoots with less power then the Hy Score.

I payed 25 euro, about 34 dollars, for it and took it home.

At home I started shooting with it after having checked out all screws etcetc and the backside where you load the pellet .
It shot pretty nice and slowly I liked it more and more, a compact gun that shoots pretty hard and had different technique than normal break barrels.
The piston moves being mounted around the barrel instead of behind it, no leather seals but O-ring, a novelty in those years.
Only it was not very accurate, p.o.i was lower than aimed at..

I posted a topic on the forum for info with few response.
This brand and type are unknown aroud here, I found only one piece being sold some years ago in Holland.
One member said that the rear sight elevator was missing so my goal was to make one because of the fact nobody has parts for it in Holland.

Through Google I found the same info you mentioned as well in the Bluebook for guns, it was made in big numbers, and reproduced by other companies, very shortly even in the UK but without succes.
Also I found out that my single shot version is a type 800 and that a 6 shot reload version also was available called the 802.

Finally I came across the topic of 1644 and I got my so desired elevator.
After adjusting it some times, thanks to this elevator the Hy Score is much accurate then before!

So, I am happy with this complete little fun gun!
It is in good condition, a few small speckles off rust but the original colour( blueing??) is intact for about 90%.
A curiosity over here, especially because very few people owe one over here and notwithstanding it's age, it shoots very well not being overhauled inside yet.
I loved it even more after I had it complete as it was so long ago!!!
Most def a fun gun for inside untill 5-6 meters for shooting cards, cans and spinners!!
A soda can is easely penetrated with the right pellet.....I enjoy it very much each time I fire it!

Only thing is to be so carefull not to loose the elevator knowing that they are scarce nowadays... Razz

Thanks for sharing that information Dutch Lead. That Hy Score 800 is an interesting design. I have to admit I have never seen one of those before. I got into airguns in 1981, and by then Hy Score brand airguns were starting to disappear. I know they were actually Diana rebranded in other names such as Geco and Original.

Funny, somehow I thaught that these guns were more common in the States..
Guess I was lucky getting this one in my posession, I now try to find the best pellet with which it will shoot the best...
So far I tried H&N hollow point that is not such a heavy pellet and that goes fine..
Also I had Kvintor Tornado in it but they are too light...with Gamo Rockets it shoots nice holes in plink material...but the finest thing is that I think it is an ultimate fungun for indoor shooting!
