I need to find medium to high profile 1" weaver scope rings that fit a 1/2 inch receiver. Anyone know how I can find those? I've noticed that a lot of places don't even mention what size receiver their rings fit. Most assume that it is for a 3/4" receiver and some will specify that theirs fit a 3/8" receiver, but mine is 1/2" which is apparently incredibly rare. I was amazed by the fact that pretty much every manufacturer and distributor don't feel the need to include the size of receiver that their rings fit. Considering that their are at least three different sizes, this has left me baffled and frustrated. Considering that ".5 inch receiver scope rings" don't even turn up google results, I'm thinking that the spanish bastards that made my Hammerli just made a non-standard mount to piss their customers off. I'll go to every sporting goods store this weekend and email all the scope ring manufacturers. But considering that there is like 3 specific things that these rings need to fit, I'm sure that will add to the difficulty of people understanding what I need. I was sitting there with three sets of scope rings last night, all of which fit 2 out of the 3 things that are required for it to mount correctly, and all of which fit a different 2 of the 3 things. And I was just basking in my fury repeating to my self "You've got to be kidding me." I thought that all "Weaver" mounts were considered to be of the picatinny style- which is a standardized size? Most "straight" rail mounts are now metric. _________________ ` I'd say "I care." I think that the 3/8" mounts will work on the 1/2" receiver still. The ones I used on my old scope were 3/8" as well. Technically, I should be using the 1/2" though. The problem I encountered last night was because I bought a set of rings at walmart (big mistake). I was able to rig them to hold pretty good on the reciever, but they didn't fit the scope tube, even though it was a 1inch scope and the box said they were 1 inch rings. In retrospect, I remember that the row of scope rings was packed full and all had dust on the boxes. The one up front was taped shut as though it was purchased and returned and then repackaged. The reason: Because they are defective and don't even fit scopes due to a manufacturing miscalculation. I'd sooner go back to walmart than buy anything from Britain. After they sold me a VHS tape which magically doesn't work in "American" VCR's, I learned my lesson about non-compatible parts. They can keep their chips (fries) and crisps (chips) and metric scope rings. I'll get my stuff elsewhere. _________________ I done been assisted by the trees and rivers. Half the scopes out there have 30mm tubes (as opposed to 1.25" tubes (31.75mm)). I'll have to double check that. I understand the metric conversion and would actually prefer all metric numbers. Just easier that way. Fortunately, when I went on Gamo's site and went to the order checkout I got scripting errors so they lost out on my busines. They love giving you errors on the "submit order" page that way you will hit back or refresh and duplicate the order five times so you are double billed. Not playing that game. Well you see Roger UK TV uses the P.A.L system "Perfect At Last",where as North America uses N.T.S.C system "Never The Same Color", so you can't expect quality UK VHS tapes to work on a crappy US TV system. Something tells me that those are not the true meanings of the acronyms. I don't know whose VCR's are better, but I just think it is stupid that you would have one type in one part of the world and another somewhere else, when its for the same thing-playing videos. I knew that European outlets are all jacked up, but I thought that was it. (Apparently electricity is different over there too.) Incidentally, the tape was an Anime movie and had artwork on the cover which I use as decoration.
