Lets say you have a non choked .22 cal. barrel that has a bore 0.22 of an inch diameter all the way thru,now you would like to choke it.How much would you reduce that stock barrel bore/dia. with out compromising the FPS/FPE of said barrel. I am still messing with that Chinese .22 B2(B1).I did cut the barrel with a pipe cutter and it did choke the sh!t out of it,so much that I can watch the pellet in flight. I have it down to around .217/8 of an inch(way too much!!).However I can open the choke/dia. by increasing the depth of the crown.I am going to open it another.001 thousands of an inch today and see if it helps. Just wondering if there is a proper undersize for choking. It is suppose to help with accuracy by giving the pellet a smaller hole to pass thru at the last moment before it exits the barrel.Basically it causes the skirt of the pellet to be forced against the lans of the rifling upon exit of the barrel. This method is suppose to put more spin on the pellet while it is in flight which is what keeps a pellet from tumbling. I am no ballastic expert but I know that the more spin you can create on a projectile the straighter it will go.I am sure others in this forum who are a lot smarter than I am can explain this a little better for you Mr.Outdoorsman.But I think you will get what I am saying by my unskilled explaination. Still Trying to learn BBGun Bob. PS I did open the choke another .001 today but got rained out for my next test.POOP! This is what it looks like after I cut 5" off the barrel.
