I have no idea how to do this. I have an Umarex HPP air gun. I have the CO2 cartridge in. I don't want to fire the gun with any ammo inside. Basically, I'm trying to dry fire the thing for a movie. So, how exactly can I do this? Somebody mentioned holding the slide catch down, but that doesn't make sense because if the slide catch is the switch by the safety, it's already down throughout the firing without needing any holding. So, I need some help here, guys.

It won't dry fire? Damn I gotta give umarex some credit for design for that one. Have you tried dry firing it? I looked thru the manual on pyramydair.com and I cann't find anything on dry firing. You will have to fins someone with one to find out. Go to the main page and ask in other forums too. There is a listing of sites for airguns. If only you had a C-11. I dry fire mine all the time and it's usually not on purpose. I have a hard time keeping count of how many BBs are still in the gun. lol

I think we have an issue with the term "dry fire"- by definition, a "dry fire" would be with no ammunition. Dry firing a Co2 pistol won't hurt anything- make sure you have no BBs in it, release the safety, dry fire all you like. Just don't shoot Co2 at people.

CO2 with no ammo is good for shooting flies indoors.
