I recently acquired a springer tuning kit from airbuddy3 (thanks Frank).
These questions are fairly generic- so anyone with the knowledge, please give me your perspective.
I am wondering (springer tunes are new to me- I've shot them a bit here and there, but Co2 guns have been my main "thing")- why does the kit have a new piston seal in it? I have a brand new OEM piston with seal attached next to the tuning kit unit- and the tuning kit seal seems to be somewhat more flexible than the OEM/factory unit. Is this intentional, generally, or just a coincidence? Can I assume if it is intentional that the softer material allows for a better chamber seal?
Also- most springer modification topics mention changing the spring guides. Some guns have a steel spring guide, much like a rod/tube over which the spring sits. Is a new guide with a spring change/upgrade required when this guide style is used? What feature or features do new/enhanced guides employ that differ from a typical factory guide? |

Nobody around here "big" on springers? Is this a 'pump' and Co2/PCP crowd? |

As you get older Co2 looks more and more attractive.

Don't misunderstand me- the reason I'm putting together one, maybe two springers is because trying to shoot with Co2 in -30*C weather for 2 months of the year doesn't happen- it's only been in the last week or so that I've been able to use Co2 without losing significant pressure because of lower temperatures.
I certainly see the appeal of Co2- I like it. I just hate not being able to get a decent set of shots from November to April every year using it. |
