I got a Diana 24 C1 Carbine and the Wienhrauch HW 30 S, both in .177.

Fit and finish I got to say the HW is up one notch. I don't even think there's plastic on the HW plus it has a nice rubber butt pad. The Diana has several plastic parts, sights, end cap and trigger. It also only has a smooth wooden butt stock end.

Handling characteristic: For pointability and shootability, again I find the HW 30 easier, nicer feeling to it. Both have nicely finish stocks, lock-up appears about the same on both which is good. I just find the HW easier for me to shoot more accurately.

Trigger: One has the Reckor, one has the TO5. My Reckor on the HW is pretty good but would like to adjust it some more though that means taking it out of the assembly to fine tune it if/when I chose to do so, kind of scary for me to do that as I have never played with one of those triggers. The Diana only has one adjustment and it's possible to get a decent trigger pull out of it though it's limited. Both have good triggers that come with them.

Smoothness: Again I feel the HW wins here in cocking but not by much, just feels different compared to my Diana.

Accuracy: Both are equal in my opinion, both seem to shoot RWS Diabolo like the guns were made for them, or the pellets for them. I haven't really experimented with other pellets yet but the rifles are accurate.

All in all, they are both nice rifles. About the only thing in Wienhrauch negative side is the price of them, I feel they are slightly over priced. but I wanted one after reading reviews about them. It may very well be my favorite for now and Diana is right there beside it, my Phantom after that.

Now this is only my opinion on these two, I'm still fresh behind the ears when it comes to high quality air guns but I'm proud to own these two babies. Soon I should be receiving the Diana 240 Classic so I hope to be excited about that one also. I always wanted a Diana for years after shooting one 20 years ago, now I will have two.

Just for the record. The Trigger on HW-rifles is called "Rekord". It's german.

Yeah, that trigger is pretty unique. Allthough I hear they are putting them on Chinese rifles too, these days.

Put it like this: When you are in Germany and you buy an Air-Rifle. You go to a shop and ask "What is the best spring powered airgun you can offer?" The seller will probably say something along the line of "Either a Diana or a Weihrauch." If you ask this in the Netherlands though, they will probably only say Diana.

For a great part, people are scared of new things, and Diana likes to do new things. Weihrauch isn't bringing out a new version of a rifle 2 or 3 times a year.

Diana scope rails aren't that good at all, while Weihrauch is always of decent quality, and a few times more simple. I've heard of factory-screw-ups with Diana, but almost never of these things occuring with Weihrauch.

Things like this make me doubt the quality of Diana VS Weihrauch, while the rifles may cost about the same.

i realy love my wilrauch wh-55 but i just shoot her enough to keep the leather seal soft as i see the value goin up all the time had her a loooong time best rifle i ever owned . then comes my diana herd 2-34's 1 in 22 the other in 177 and last in diana world is a sweet 5g she eats pop cans up when i stick them on tree limbs and shhot the heck out of them or where i shot skket last its fun shootin old shotgun shell hulls makin them spin hit em on the metal end where the primer goes they spin like a top in orbit but a bad diana or wilrauch beats my crosmans on a bad day all day

Great that you own an lovely old timer, but that doesn't really say a lot about Weihrauch these days.

There are also keys on your keyboad that do points and commas. Keeps it all the more tidey for us moderators.

I've owned both Diana (RWS 52, 34) and HW (R-8, 97K). There is no comparision because the HW rifles are far superior in my estimation. Fit and finish is better, they shoot smoother, and are better engineered. I will never own another harsh shooting RWS rifle.

I should qualify that last statement. The RWS rifles probably shoot harshly because they are more powerful to some degree, but they sure beat up scopes.

I have had a Diana model 34 and while quality made they lack a certain finish from the box that Weihrauch's have. Mine had the T05 trigger and a plastic safety. The gun itself took a Maccari tune and some small work by me ot get it a superb piece. My Weihrauch HW97k is perfection almost from the box minus maybe smoothing out the recoil by a Vortek drop in.

The Rekord trigger on a Weihrauch, well nothing compares to it.

But I would not hesitate to have another Diana.
