An idiot surrounded by guys with automatic weapons and high capacity pistols to keep him and his, safe. Note how he mentioned "double barrel" shotgun. I'm sure he would like to Australia-ize us (but not the government) down to double barrels. Obviously, a pump or auto shotgun, if using a shotgun at all, would be the one to choose. I have argued with people about this before. Some people believe you can't miss with a shotgun. Well yes you can. Shot doesn't spread that much at nine feet. A handgun you can keep under your pillow at night. "Assault weapons" will be very useful if you had a gang coming after you. I can't see how AR-15s are hard to use.   Posted: Sat Mar 16, 2013 9:00 am radar Silver Status Member Joined: 13 Nov 2011 Posts: 1138 Location: Des Moines, Iowa, USA The biggest problem I have with "assault weapons" bans is that, other than looks, (pistol grip, etc.) they are functionally the same as a Remington 742 semi-auto "hunting" rifle, or similar, with just a bigger magazine on it. And there is no evidence that any gun bans have effect on crime or murder rates anywhere in the world. Once the get rid of gun A, then mass killers switch to gun B, either modded or just carrying more of them. Then they go after gun B, etc. etc., with still no effect on public safety. It is a familiar pattern used in Europe, the UK, Australia, and other countries. Certainly mass killings are not an American only phenomenon, either. During the last AWB, I tryed to explain to people that it didn't banned anything. Governments are by far the most attrocious mass murderers in history. In the US, I believe the record set for most deaths of men, women and children at the same time, by one man, was the arson of a Barnum and Bailey Circus tent with a match. The man that did it said the voices in his head told him to do it.
