Well , im looking into buying a new piston airgun for some time now and i have conclude in the following three:

Gamo shadow igt
: i just found out that the advertised velocity of 330m/s with these PBA equals to 220-230m/s with lead pellets!!WOW..i should probably forget about this gun for sure!!

Stoeger-Beretta Χ-50:
A quality gun , i chose it because its on stock for 65$ less. im very confused about all the velocities but i've seen about 18 ft/lb witch is a bit low for my needs..

last and most important:THE Hatsan 125 VORTEX: It's brand new I've found no disadvantages at all

If anybody knows any other rifle in this price range please post ! :D

I am going to use it in "long" range target shooting (30 yards and more) and i also want it for hunting medium game like rabbits.Thats why i want to have 20+ ft/lb and a 5.5mm/22cal for sure Surprised

well a few crosman's are available but ill probably go with a version of hatsan as i have read that they have very good build quality/power/accuracy . im also going to put a nice scope on it.Are you aware of the difference between a barska and an ncstar with about 20% more money? (for the barska) does barska worth the extra money? Question

Well forget barska..after i checked the hole amazon i'm now between tow scopes..the first is a scope from "sniper corp" it has the beast reviews but one man is saying that it is an exact replica of a leapers scope..heres the link:

http://www.amazon.com/4-16x50mm-adjustment-Illumination-reticle-extended/dp/B005ICG6IK/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

now the second scope is a model of ncstar (as you suggested) witch comes in regular focus (from the back) and side focus The only fear i have is that in higher magnifications it may get a little blurry thats why i chosen 16x :
("back" focus):
http://www.amazon.com/NcStar-4-16X50-Illuminated-Sniper-SM3P41650G/dp/B000R4BYVI/ref=sr_1_10?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1371770669&sr=1-10&keywords=scope

(side focus):
http://www.amazon.com/NcStar-4-16X50-Illuminated-Rangefinder-SM3RAO41650G/dp/B000R4G2MY/ref=sr_1_58?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1371770941&sr=1-58&keywords=scope

witch one would you suggest?

Very Happy

OW and i changed my mind about the hatsan. I am probably going to buy a stoeger x50 as many people i knew have gone with stoegers. In fact the reason i chose it is because my country's dealer of beretta is in my town and what ever happens i have them near by. Surprised

Well, It's really a matter of preference. What are you used to? They are both high quality scopes, and if you are used to the back focus by all means go for it. Side focuses have been around for years and I think all the bugs would be worked out of them by now. My personal preference would be the back focus, but thats because that's what I am used to. All of my scopes are back focus. I am used to the side wheel being the AO myself.you could put a wheel on the side focus and dial it without barely reaching from the trigger. Plus you could use the width of the mildots across the target to figure out your range. It's really up to your personal preference. I wouldn't even bother putting in the batteries for the light up reticle. They are distracting.

Well im probably going for the back focus as every optic i have used had the focus like this.I have a final question . Does your ncstar have a milldot reticle OR a rangefinding one. i knew how milldots are but what are the advantages of rangefinding ? In other words what should i get? Razz Embarassed

What kind of shooting are you doing? You mentioned something about long range. What kind of ranges are we talking about? You are really needing two different kind of scopes. One with an adjustable objective for target shooting and one with an adjustable focus for hunting. An ajustable objective changes the parrallax point for whatever you are shooting at. FOr me, on my 2400 I have an adjustable objective by Centerpoint, which is a scope I highly recommend because they are designed specifically for airguns. Bascailly when you look thru it it is out of focus, then you dial the wheel or in my case the front bell till it's in focus. Then you look on it nad it tells you exactly what range you are at. You can compensate for bullet drop. adjustable focus only makes the picture larger or smaller. They are great for target or if you have time to dial the scope in, but they are not very good for hunting. Case in point: I would put a bowl of dog food out in the middle of my yard and dial my AO in till I knew it was 22 yards(In your case it would be meters) I would use the second mildot down as my aiming point. I would bring the focus into 9x to get the clearest possible view of my target and blast away, knowing I was right on target. I would hit a heart/lung on the first shot without worrying about woulnding the bird. Since starlings are stupid they wouldn't get the idea until about the 4th or 5th bird. After they all flew away I would go clean up the carcasses, drink a coke and smoke a cigarette, then come back and the dumb birds would be back for more dog food. The one thing I like about AOs is no matter what magnification you are at they are always in focus.None of this crap of not being able to use the highest focus only at long range.

THis is the scope I use for field target.

http://www.amazon.com/CenterPoint-4-16x40-Adventure-Illuminated-See-Thru/dp/B005WIAUUU/ref=sr_1_2?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1371807499&sr=1-2&keywords=centerpoint+scope

It is good for anything but snap shots. It takes a few seconds to get it down right. It's as good as the NCstar, and it is designed specifically for airguns. No broken crosshairs or wantering aiming points. It's cheaper too. NCStar was my only choice in pistol scopes at the time or I would have bought a centerpoint pistol scope. It's also exactly what you would need for your long range shooting. It's a good hunting scope too if you are not flushing game. You just need that extra 3 secionds to read the AO to figure out your exact range. Any Centerpoint will do you though. Here is the webpage for them:

http://www.crosman.com/optics/scopes

Take a look at these. They are always out of stock on their page but you can find them on www.pyramydair.com or similar sites. And pyramydair ships overseas.

Well i willll brobably go with a a bit more money scope with 50mm lenses and front AO adjustment.
I will use it for 10%hunting and 90% target shooting (50 to 100yards) so i suppose this will be fine for my needs. Now what if a scope hasn't an AO at all
how does it focuses? (may sound really stupid but i never had an no AO scope before) Razz Mr. Green Rolling Eyes

Then the objective is set at a specific point. Say 100 yards for a firearm and 50 for an airgun. THen you will only be able to use the max focus at these distances, which if you are shooting 20 to 30 yards all the time is a complete waste. Then a 3x9 becomes a 3x5 or 6. which is a waste.

Here is a scope that meets your features and is a leapers which is a good scope.

Thank you for the suggestion Mr. Green Unfortunately i will not buy this specific scope from pyramidair because just the shipping for it to get to my town is 75$ Exclamation BUT I've found on amazon an exact same specification scope for 20$ more but it now has an offer 30%off. the sipping ofcource is free and it comes with solid mounts Razz so ill probably stick with it Mr. Green
