| I'm sure there is already some information out here but I have been unable to find any. I am looking for any modifications that I can make to my Gamo Silent Stalker. After replacing my scope rings with the one piece Leapers that was recommended to me I am able to consistently pop eggs at a distance of about 30 yards. I figure if I can hit a chicken egg, then I should be able to hit any pest in that distance.(current best /lucky shot was a squirrel at roughly 55-60 yards.) Anyway, trigger mods, gas piston mods or upgrades or barrel mods to make it mote accurate, reliable etc.etc. Links to other threads would be appreciated, I know a lot of the rifles some of you talk about are mimics of others, just not sure where my Gamo falls into all that. Thanks in advance for any help or info. |

I believe most of the "mid-power" Gamos, except for the newest ones with two crosspins through the rear of the receiver, and maybe some others I don't know about, are cloned as a B18 or B19 platform which includes many Crosman-Benjamin mid power spring-piston rifles like the Quest, Vantage, Trail NP (not the XL Trail) and probably the newer Fury.
Searching under those types will probably pull up more information that may apply to your Gamo. Look carefully at you rifle under the stock, and especially at the trigger group, and see if it matches these other air rifles mentioned to be sure.
There are aftermarket triggers, lube-tuning instructions, stock modifications, and others. I don't have time right now to look for links, but try the general information library here or at other airgun forums, and see what you can dig up. |

| gtx or charlie da tuna trigger google air guns of arizona for gtx and charliedatuna for his trigger. i have a tuna trigger in my gamo big cat and i think your gamo is in his list of what fits. also weight the butt of the stock some as all gamos are muzzle heavy. i used a piece of 1x4 wrapped with some foam floor covering pad used under sus pended wood flooring . i had a lot left over from floorin my house . it weights the stock out for better balance as well as deadening a lot of noise from the hollow stock |

Besides the advice Robert gave you, you will also see on Charlie's site him talking about Ed Ehrisman aka airguncamo. He does custom tuning on Gamos called the 'Turbo Tune' for $100.00 which includes the return shipping and he will install that new trigger free of charge as well. I had it done on my BigCat 1250 and it is a pure dream to shoot now!
The 'Turbo Tune' included:
A complete debure and polish of the compression tube cocking slot and trigger slot. The piston, top-hat, cocking foot, trigger housing and all additional parts were also debured and polished.
The compression area of the tube was honed and crosshatched for consistent lube distribution. The spring and piston seal were replaced with Maccari custom part's and the spring was fitted to a machined delrin spring guide (the custom guide greatly dampens spring vibration and twang).
After the debure, polish and cleaning part's were properly lubed with Maccari lubes and assembled. The barrel is cleaned and final testing was performed.
An Ed da Tuna GRT4 trigger was also installed (getting rid of that standard cheap plastic crap Gamo pushes off as state of the art, yet everyone hates).
The hollow synthetic butt was was core-filled similarly to Robert W's however I used pink wall insulation (fibered) and a small sock filled with clay-mashed BB's to reduce not only the hollow sound of the stock, but also reduced to the 'twang' both in sound and feel. It also gave some good ballast.
Hope this helps. |

On my Crosman G1 I used expanding foam insulation out of a spray can. Some expands out of the cavity, but it's easily trimmed. For weight I have also used BB's (or spent pellets) mixed into a slurry with an adhesive like epoxy or RTV. |

Mixing the BB's and spent pellets is a great idea, and I had considered using expanding foam similar to Great Stuff, but then decided not to for a few reasons.
1st, unless you are lining the inside with plastic wrap or something similar, it's permanent and if you get it wrong the first time, you are stuck with your decision; you're not getting that stuff out. Sure you can cut mos of it out, but not all, and if you do cut most out and fill with something else, the ballast will be all wrong and considering how sensitive a springer can be, any additional irritation to the aim can be a loss.
2nd, not all synthetic stocks are made resale by the same recipes and the idea of putting a chemical based solution against an unknown chemically mixed synthetic could cause a very negative reaction and actually damage or weaken the stock and 3rd and lastly, resale. Some may like it, others might not. Although recently I had to sell off some of my air gun collection to deal with my child's college fees, all of the synthetic stocked ones were packed with stuff that the buyer--if they so chose--could remove it easily.
One of the reasons I did go with the fibered insulation was that it could be easily packed in with a dowel and you could pack the density to your desired fill. Actually, the fibered insulation was the fourth fill idea I had. I tried many different things from round foam pellets to packing peanuts; each one providing a different effect. I will be posting a video soon to YouTube (will link on the forum) covering this including ways to prevent fibers (as well as foam pellets/peanuts) from getting all over the place and worse, in the air (fiber insulation) which one may dreadfully breathe in.
An air gun buddy of mine filled his stock with saw dust which he first inserted a leg of a large panty hose, filled the hose leg with the saw dust, packing as he went, tying it off once filled. Half way up he dropped in a few heavy bolts he had lying around and filled in around them and continued towards the butt. It worked great!
Just some ideas.
Thanks!

| Another thing about Great Stuff (or the equivalent) is that the valves plug up if you only use part of the can. Better to plan ahead and do the gunstock at the same time as another project and use it up in one shot. |
