I was having a great time shooting the Hatsan Mod 25SuperCharger pistol today. I've set it up with a BSA edge pistol scope on a UTG cantilevered scope mount ( just like that guy on airgunweb). This thing was a laser tack driver with the brown box crosman .177 7.9 grain (07-25-2012 die c) @ 10 meters.

I've lost count but maybe after about 50 or so shots, I started to miss. No more single clover leaf bug holes. I figure I was getting tired, so I started getting real serious & tried concentrating really hard to hit the mark. No go, this thing is just spraying holes like a shotgun pattern.

Lo & behold! The scope mount was creeping. It creeped so much it started to strip a thin slice off the aluminum dovetail mount & squash into the rear plastic sight mount.

damn, how disappointing to see this. I thought i had these things torqued down as far as i could without breaking it. I would have thought the recoil absorbing feature would eliminate having to worry about scope creep. My guess is that it would have probably happened a lot worse & a lot sooner without it. This pistol does have some kick even with the recoil absorbing feature.

I was so disgusted with the whole thing I had to put it away before I would have turned green, busted out of my clothes & tossed the entire thing up to the moon.

After few days, I revisited it calmly & decided that this pistol was too powerful for this scope setup. So I removed it & placed it on a less powerful pistol.

After wasting time sighting it with the .357 .177, I quickly removed it. I was never really thrilled with putting the scope on the .357, it made it unbalanced & unwieldy. Now what do I do with this $65 scope & mount setup? I can't let it go to waste sitting in a junk drawer.

Looking at the bottom of the UTG scope mount, I noticed two scope stop pins. I tried to figure out a way to adjust them to protrude out but I wasn't until I removed the scope entirely off the mount that I found the hex key holes on top. That's when DREMEL came in to the rescue.

I placed the mount back on the MOD25 & twisted the hex key scope stops into place, making sure it would scratch the pistols dove tail mount. Removing the mount, I could see where the scope stops would go so I used the DREMEL tool to bore out holes for the two scope stop pins.

Remounted the scope into the mount & onto the pistol. Seems like everything is nice & tight for now. I've place a strip of electrical tape on the front & rear of the dovetail mount to see it it will creep. Hopefully I've drilled deep enough for the scope stop pins to do their job.

It's too dark outside now to sight in the scope, will have to wait until morning.
I'll be dreaming of my laser tack driver clover leaf bug hole pistol.

Man that is a bummer and sorry to hear it. It must have serious kick if it causing all that

i found an old pic of what should have been a big clue of how hard the recoil is. after shooting for awhile i noticed a rattling noise inside the scope. when i took it apart, this ring was the thing rattling around in there. the ring is press-fit inside of the scope. my guess is it helps hold the lens in place. well, i couldn't get it back into place so i kept it out.

anyways, i got it sighted-in but only had a chance to shoot at 5 meters today. with all this hub-bub in NYS with the new gun laws, i figure i better stay indoors with this today. i don't need my neighbors calling the cops on me.

If you coat the scope rail with a thin layer of red loctite it will
no longer move. Make sure that you do not get any on threaded
parts though.
