How does one figure out whether you have a phase I or phase II pistol? And can parts still be bought for these pistols?

If it is a Phase 1 then it's called a 454. If it's a Phase 2, it's called a 1600. If yours says "1600" it can only be a Phase 2 unit.

That being said, the basic seals are still available, but you would need to use a valvestem from a modern 760 Pumpmaster, the 454/1600 stem is long discontinued. Most of the other parts can only be found in the used market.

Thank you sir. Valve stem, you are talking about the stem that pushes the co2 cylinder into the seal, correct? Why would a pumpmaster have a co2 valve stem? I am confused. So far I only aware of is the stem that pushes the co2 cylinder into the seal is broken. Once I get that fixed I am sure I will find bad seals.

Inside the valve is a stem that the hammer hits to 'open' the valve to allow Co2 to flow through the port and into the barrel. There is no "stem" related to the Co2 piercing- you have piercing pin underneath the Co2 caplet seal, at the other end a screw with cup to hold/insert the Co2 caplet.

It appears I have LOTS to learn. More confused. Do you have any idea where I could get the part with the wing on it to pierce the co2 capsule?

Crosman's site says they don't sell parts for 1600. I will call them again. Maybe they will have seals also. Thanks Eric!

Look at the parts diagram, get the part number, tell them this, not what it is for- the people at most places Customer Service desks are not "experts" and they read off a list which says "we don't have parts for a 1600" which is true for most of the parts, but not all.
