Can anyone tell me why this happened?

I've not used the pistol for a while and it was all working when I used it last.

I put in a new co2 capsule lightened the screw down.

Pressed the lever shut......then BANG!!!!

Looks like the valve exploded and took the slide out, so glad my face was not in the way.

One thing I have noticed is the metal slide is very brital, it snaps like chocolate with very little effort.......as the valve looks like the same material, has some thing happened to the metal??

A lucky escape there jedi. Shocked

It looks like a faulty casting and bad quality control.

Yep I was shocked I just sat there with what was left of the pistol in my hand, thinking to myself so glad me face wasn't there......while the last of Co2 leaked out.

Have any of you guys come across this before?

The slide metal its very brittle for some reason, what could have happened to it,

The valve looks like cast alloy of some sort, but its this that exploded in 3 pieces.

Shame I really liked this pistol for plinking etc....now Co2 worries me?

You can get this type of problem when the injection moulding machine or the mould is not up to temperature, in theory it shouldn’t happen.
Most production injection machines are automatically controlled, unless these parts are made on a manual one shot machine, then you can get problems.
It also makes a difference where the parts are made?

I would send the photos to the maker with a serious complaint, at worst you should get a replacement, at best a replacement and compensation for the trauma of the explosion.

Yep looks like Magnesium type metal, very grey with air bubbles.......No reply from Anics by the way........will have to try again...

Can the metal degrade like this over time, as the pistol shot perfect and the metal did`nt feel brittle at all, it had taken a few knocks and over 500 pellets shot through it and was still shooting fine......its just after a few years storage it seems to have crumbled away?
