| Is there any one company that stands out to make the most accurate and best quality air rifle? |

That is somewhat a matter of opinion, and unfortunately a bit vague.
What defines "quality" in your view- i.e. built like a tank and will never break, or is made with the rarest of materials hand-picked by rainforest tribesman only at midnight on a full moon?
No, I'm not being funny- but the question is too wide-open and all you are going to get is a random collection of opinions based on what other people perceive you mean by "quality".
Perhaps a good starting point would be to give us an idea of your budget- "most accurate" and "best quality" might be somewhat limited by whatever ceiling you have in mind (there are $4000.00 airguns available, just as an example). |

| Eliminate all the China ones, then decide from what's left. |

I have not been exposed to air rifles for 50 years when I had my first air rifle at 16 years old.
Living in Texas and having a farm I have several high power hunting rifles and varmint rifles.
The air rifle gives me the opportunity to practice shooting cheaply and it is a lot of fun.
The more I read I am understanding that there or many restriction in other countries that don't allow high power rifles.
It would not be practical for me to spend over $400.00 |

Get a Daystate! Apart from specialized target rifles you cannot get better.

If you want something for strictly practice/recreational shooting, I'd reccomend a single stroke pneumatiuc rifle. Baikal makes one, but I'm sure thare are many others. The Baikal is one I remembr seeing and liking, but others will likely chime in with more. The reason I reccomend that powerplant is that it will be consistant and easy. No CO2 or gas to run out of, no separate pump to deal with. Each shot will be just the same as the last, unlike CO2 that starts to get a little 'soft' as it cools from shooting. Also less effort than wrestling a spring piston gun. Since you don't plan on varminting with it, you won't need the power of a magnum springer.
If you don't mind keeping CO2 tubes around and shoot slowly enough to avoid the tube chilling down, there are lots of good options well within your price range. Crosman makes (or at least has made) a version of their single shot bolt action CO2 rifle set up with really traditional aperature sights specifficly geared toward marksmanship practice.
Maybe take a look at the CMP web site. They have air rifles for training, but I don't know what they are offering now. It changes a bit year by year. |
