I have had a disappointing experience trying to get my 4X Centerpoint Scope working today...I mounted it OK..although it didn't seems to come back far enough to meet my eye. I had to move the scope to the very back.

I found it was off...but I could never gain control off the shot using the adjustments.

I finally took it off and tryed the normal stock sights..I was then able to get control of the shot making adjustments.

Are powerful springers (0.22mod) ect harder to get working with a scope?..it seems I would have needed to make scope adjustments to get even close to bullseye.

Perhaps when your shooting at 30ft or so, normal power is best?

As this is a springer..could that be the problem? Is is better to have the barrel non-movable WRT to the receiver?

On any break-barrel gun, POA/POI can differ because the barrel isn't matching the receiver the same on every shot. Let's assume this isn't your problem for a moment; you want to be sure the scope is securely attached and there is a stop on the gun so the scope can't creep. You may also need to loosen the mounting rings on the scope itself and let it re-index itself and then re-tighten them- I've caught more than one Crosman (CenterPoint) scope that wasn't perfectly aligned in the rings atached to it out-of-the-box- so once it is mounted on the receiver it becomes an effort in futility trying to sight it in.

Thanks for the info..my barrel seems a might loose...I can rock it back and forth a tiny bit when the gun is open for cocking ect...once closed it
seems tight.

In the mean time I went and read the info posted on Scope mounting
and setup. I ddn't understand re there should be a difference closeup.

My problem(one of them) now is I can't sight the dam thing in at 50 yds
ect (if I can verify repeatabilty close-up)

Would a person expect to use the scope at 30ft?..or would there be no
way to adjust elevation that much, that close, with a scope?

Hey..the springers that cock with a lever on the receiver..they should
not have any barrel issues..is there a good 0.22 model for under $200?

The only low-cost, side-cocking guns I know of are the BAM B4's and such- which, pretty much guaranteed, will need some tuning out of the box to shoot well.

I just recently bought a QB88, redid the stock, give her some polishing and lube and it seems pretty accurate with iron sights. It did need a lot of work even before I shot it, degreasing and all.

Another problem with the phantom with the included scope(not shooters kit with muzzle break) doesnt have ao. When you aim you might not have have your eye in the same spot each time. Adjustable objective makes it so it doesnt matter where your eye is in correlation to the scope. Try this, look through the scope as you would normally do while holding the gun still. Move you head a little to the right, the reticle will move. This si the problem with the included non ao scope. You might want to sell that scope and buy yourself a scope like a bug buster from leapers or something similar. That an a nice scope mount that is a 1 piece design with a scope stop pin. The crossman g1 extreme is a phantom with a nice ao scope and 1 piece scope mount. You might want to return your phantom and buy one of those g1's. I have seen them for 129.00 u.s. Which is a good deal.

I myself have a phantom and have learned the scope is useless even with a scope stop i made. You really cannot get the stock scope rings to clamp down, they will move a little bit each time you fire and you will see metal dust near the base of the rings. Should have bought the phantom without the scope, then buy a scope. Or the g1.

I found with most Phantoms and Quests need a shim under the rear scope mount will have good results.I use old film negitives to do this usally 2 pcs works best it is .005 thick for each shim.
For proper eye relief get yourself an offset scope mount this will let you bring the scope closer to your eye. Here is the link to offset mounts.

Thanks all for the help.

The Center point scope (reasonable quality compared to some included scopes...more on that later) had what I think is OA...there is a dial to adjust focus (not zoom..its 4x period)..and on the mount closest to shooter
it had a threaded allen key bolts which supposedly goes into the suppied
homle on the receiver...mine did not fit right (off center or something)

Well...to finish the story..I read so mant bad things about scoping break barrels that I went out and got myself a Daisy 954. I put the scope on it..and bingo,,POI was 1/4 inch from bullseye right from the beginning.
Of couse now I'm down to 0.177, fixed receiver/barrel, and likely 450FPS with no recoil...to be honest my 22magnum is no good in the garage anyway..it tears the hell out of everything and is loud for the city.
I have had the Daisy 954 just for one night..but I love it. This will be my
10m indoor ect taget gun for sure. It looks really nice with the scope. Because its a smaller gun..I can bring the scope nice an close to my eye.
Ohh and the scope that comes with it is crap..Walmart 954S package...but
that's the only packaging the had $124.99 or so.
Today I was just out at Home Depot getting a 4x8 sheet of 3/4 spruce
plywood but up to make 3 pellet gun boxes that will use two telephone books inside...that should be a fun project tonight !

I think everyone remembers my post on how "My Phantom Killed My Scope" not too long ago, it was a "Fitco" 2-7x32k, and after getting the gun tuned, in a matter of a couple shots the scope failed. I managed to solve my problem by getting a better scope for one, and then lining the the inside of the ring's with a strip of rubber, this was done by simply taking a *Thick* black rubber glove and cutting off the Index finger, and then cutting a piece the size of your ring's, and then sliding it over your scope and positioning it where you want it, and putting the ring's back on. If you do it right you can't even tell there's anything there, and I do believe it makes a difference, Since I've done it I've haven't had to re-sight my scope or the laser thats attached to it on the varmint kit, and that's with over 200-250 shot's in. I put a REX scope on mine and it's been good to me so far.
