It's a nice and easy springer, and I love it.
I've read somewhere that CZ make the best barrels for that money.
Does there happen to be any twang, or did you already tune it? |

It's partially tune. working on it still.
What are you doing with your old stock once you have that super nice one made? |

Ive been hijacked! thats ok, i like to hear about the slavia. Too bad they dont sell them here in the u.s. If someone decided to start selling them here, im sure they will make a small fortune. Im still trying to accurately shoot this phantom at ten meters, but its hard. The sights are horrible. Anyone have any ideas of a replacement rear and front? or someway to mod it? I would really like a peep, but cant afford anything over 20 bucks. I think the phantom has 11mm dovetails. Or if any of you have a phantom, tell me how you line your sights up. I just make sure the front sight is level with the rear and in the center. The green dot on the front is directly below and in the middle of the target. I have to be sure im a hair under the target also, like for instance: if the bullseye is a black circle and the target is white, then i see the black bullseye floating above my sights with only a hairline of white under it.
The sights are so big that its the only way i can see the target. There is an excellent write up here http://my.tbaytel.net/~coopers@tbaytel.net/QuestPhantom/ This guy as well wants to mod the sights. I really want a leapers bug buster scope, but the scope that is included with the phantom bounces all around. I made a scopestop and constantly tightened it. But it still moves. So i dont see how any other mount will change the scope from moving. Those tries with the scope moving was with the other phantom twangers, now i seem to have a phantom that makes the greatest pop sound, with hardly no recoil, and can be held or rested anyway you want and it doesnt affect accuracy. I do not understand why its not hold sensitive. |

Thats how its supposed to work with the open sights. |

Beaner,
The Phantoms may not be expensive, but what's the point of having three and meanwhile complaining about not having enough budget? If you keep the good one and sell the rest, you should be able to get yourself a nice Bug Buster with a pair of good scope rings or a decent peep sight if you may. |

| I dont have 3, i only have one. I bought one, it wouldnt shoot. I returned that one and exchanged it for another. The exchanged one had a crooked barrel and a messed up trigger. I returned the exchanged one and exchanged it for another one. So in total this is my third one. That is why i could tell you how crazy this one sounds and shoots compared to the reviews and compared to the other 2 phantoms(not the tac extremes) i had. I know these things are supposed to twang but mine does not, it also is a whole lot more powerful than the other two. I had to duck for cover shooting at my wood target backing for the first two. This one goes through it. I just feel crazy lucky, it seems i have one tuned from the factory!? |

Either they packaged a tac 1 in a phantom box or more likely, a guy took the one that you now have apart, cleaned it up a bit, did some piston work and then didnt want it anymore for whatever reason so returned it. Now you have it. |

| BEANER: the phantom sights are fine, i love them they are fully adjustable and most likely they are too big because you are to close to the target try backing up a bit i had a similar problem with putting a fiber optic sight on my 7" 2240 barel i couldnt see anything so i put a 14" on instead.. it worked after that i think the same logic applies |

I'll just keep it.
By the way, the open sights on a standard 630 are rubbish, at least mine were. No problem, because I got a nice little scope with it. |

| It is a tac, cause from what i have heard is a tac is a phantom with a ao scope and a 1 piece scope mount. The phantom is packed with a non ao 4x32 scope. I dont think this was repacked either since i looked through all 30 boxes looking for one with no dents,no tape etc. This box looked in mint shape compared to some there. I just didnt want to take any chances. Im sure it wouldnt of mattered the shape of the box anyways since none had tape and none of them had been opened. They all had the factory 2 staples etc. I really dont know why i got a good one that almost seems tuned. i cannot say luck, cause im the most unluckiest person i know. My luck is not turning around either, i got sh!t on by a bird the other day. This is winter here in michigan, all the damn birds are supposed to go south which makes it even worse. |

Crosman has, at different times, repackaged guns that were sent back for repair- but they are supposed to be clearly labelled as "rebuilt". I would agree with BCsteel- sounds like you got either the Tac-1 or a tuned Phantom in your box- not what was supposed to be in there. The fact you had virtually no dieseling out of the box is indicative that this was not a gun straight from the factory in China. Count yourself lucky.
If you've got the scope on there- why are you worrying about the open sights anyways? |

The scope that is included does not come with a scope stop. I have had serious problems with scope movement with the returned phantoms. I made my own scope stop but that didnt help too much. Plus the scope included does not have adjustable objective. I cannot seem to put my eye in front of this scope in the same place each time to be accurate.
For a minute there, I got the tac confused with the g1 extreme from crossman, i gues the tac 77 elite ,tac 1 extreme, g1 extreme and phantom are all the same guns with different accesories. What a marketing ploy geesh. Stick a bipod, laser, and ok scope on a phantom and call it a tac, sell it for $300.00 u.s. and people buy it! The only thing i am mad about is the g1 extreme. I had found it for 129.00 and it comes with a great ao scope, better than the phantoms, plus it includes a 1 peice scope mount with scope stop. The phantom includes only 2 scope rings with 1 clamp down screw(philips) for the scope, and a knurled screw for the clamping of the dovetail. To me its worth spending the extra 29 bucks and get the g1. Since they are all just phantoms with different crap.
I dont see why my phantom didnt diesel much since it did have a lot of dark brown oil in the breech. I would just wipe it each time i fired and before i even shot the gun. Took about ten shots to make it disappear from the breach. If this gun shoots this well, i wonder what a tune would do? or maybe i just need to wait til i have a couple more tins in it to decide on a tune. You would think if the gander mountain (hunting store, where i bought my phantom)had about 30 boxes of phantoms, they woould be shipped from the same warehouse and from the same batch. I know any airgun manufacturer has to include "refurbished" stickers on the box. So i dont think it has been refurbed. Maybe someone somehow did their job correctly? But then again, the worker is most likely grabbing parts out of bins. The parts being mass produced are about all the same except some have defects and others are just plain defective.
I cannot see for the life of me some chinese guy with 2000 grit sand paper and a bucket of tar tuning my gun on his lunch break(do they even get lunch breaks?). Either crossman decided to tell the factory to tighten clearances cause they are sick of returns, or maybe the factory tightened clearances due to faulty guns which make crossman look bad. I do know that china is competitive, and if they are in a bidding war with some other factory for the job then we might be getting better phantoms from here on out. Or its a total fluke of a gun and i do have the only phantom in existence that has been tuned by the chinaman on his lunchbreak. And thats not oil in the breech, its soy sauce! |

the tac 1 is a .22 tac 77 is .177cal
also this was suppose to be a phantom 1000 right? i am so confused since crosman came out with the tac 1 tuned it and called it a .22 phantom
ok does it look like this
or this
i doubt that a tac 77 could get confused with a phantom
look at the grip
just thought i'd throw another into the mix here if yours has a muzzle break

mine is the top one, and the bottom without a muzzlebreak. I guess i was confused too cause the gun i have is a phantom 1000. I am confused cause i thought the tac looked like a phantom without the middle pictures stock. I looked up tac and found a pic of a phantom with bipod, laser light and scope. So that is where the problem was. Glad you cleared that up. But im sure the tac is just a phantom with a remington genesis stock+laser+bipod+ao scope+muzzlebreak, correct? And the g1 extreme is a phantom with muzzlebreak+ao scope.
So if they are all just the same gun(same internals like reciever/,piston,guide,spring,etc minus the .22 versions barrel (which is just a phantom barrel honed out to .22 size?so same barrel too, correct?with different accessories and a different stock for the tac. Then how could my gun be a different gun? And when you say the tac has been tuned, i need to read where it says that. I dont understand why they would take the extra work to tune each gun. Maybe it has tighter clearances, but that still comes back to the "show me where it says that on crossmans website", and if it does say that.....can we really believe it is tuned like a charlie da tuna guy or any other known tuner's specifications? |
