I'm interested in Crosmans M4 177 and the new Daisy Winchester M14 CO2 pellet rifles but I don't know where to shoot. I live in an apartment complex with no backyard so I'm at a loss about where to go.

Any advice? I called two shooting ranges and they said it would be ok but I'd feel alittle funny bringing a pellet rifle to a rifle range. Love to hear your opinions and thanks!

I go to a friends house to shoot and I will also go out to some property I have but I feel ya, I live in a townhome and I really can't shoot here, kinda sucks. Call family members, buddies ,etc. Gun ranges are kool except you have to pay

I shouldn’t worry about taking an air rifle to a range that is mainly used for Powder burners. I take my airguns to live fire ranges and find that most people are more interested in my guns than there own, especially when I take the silencers off and they are louder than there guns.

In fact a few have bought airguns to practice with because the cost of shells far exceeds the cost of pellets and gas. Another thing is that when they ask if they can have a go, say yes if I can shoot yours, that way you get to shoot many different types of gun.

Just go and have fun.

yeah, i hear ya. i'm in a bit of a bind living in the suburbs, just north of nyc.

i really don't want to be brandishing my ag's out in the yard for the neighbors to see. i can get away with shooting in the garage but at only 5 meters. i can shoot downstairs from the living room, down the hall to the washroom for 10 meters - but only when no one else is home.

i'm a paid member at an outdoor gun range & bring my ag's there. they all get a kick out of watching me shoot the big bore .50 cal & have me pump it back up using the scuba tank.

i never thought to bring my m417 (or a springer rifle), next time i will & setup next to the guy shooting his ar-15. with enough hold-over i'll bet i can hit the bullseye at 100 yards.

I shoot airguns at a rifle range all the time. To me, a good range shooter is defined by safety, marksmanship, courtesy, and housekeeping. The kind of gun doesn't really matter. At my range, most shooters agree with that. Those that don't aren't worthy of my consideration.

That's the reason I bought my Weihrauch .177 HW75. Quieter, less velocity so a general backstop will stop the pellet. Gives me something to shoot until I can get to my daughter's house out in the country.

Not sure if space allows, but building your own pellet trap is pretty easy. I use that duct seal putty (Lowes, $2.50/ lb). 3 inches will stop a .177 pellet out of my Phantom 1000 at 10 yards. You will have to go thicker at closer range, but the putty is silent when impacted (ok maybe a dull thunk when impacted but quite enough for indoor use)

i guess i'm pretty lucky in that i have over 200 yds out my back door to shoot airguns on, and if i go up to my brothers farm 10 minutes away, they have an 1800yd rifle range. plus all the woodchucks, coyotes, pigeons and other vermin i care to shoot at. it's an 11,000 acre dairy farm.

I shoot mine in my apartment all the time. I have one long straight shot from the bathroom to the living room so that's what catches my fancy. It always pays to look at where you are shooting.

For anyone thinking of shooting in your apartment you need to see if it is legal to shoot an airgun in your area. Where I live the city counsel decided that due to kids shooting out windows that they would make airguns the same as powder burners (illegal to fire in city limits) but told the police not to arrest any kids just tell their parents as they don't want the jails to be full of kids as they don't know any better.
