Has anyone had any work done by Chris of C.A.P airgun research ? I have a 25 caliber Beeman Kodiak I wanted him to do some work on that he advertises . I went to his website and he lists no phone number and just a generic way to email him. I did that and got another generic email back asking what I wanted . I sent a detailed email back of the work I wanted. Simple , his power rebuild , a red fiber optic front sight and the new Beeman aperture sight . He sent me an email to send him my phone number and he would call me to discuss it . I did , no call . I sent about four more emails ,even asking for his number to call him back and got zip so far ???? His page looks good and the results impressive but how am I to do business with him ?

Welcome to the forum. I have seen the website but never tried doing business. He may be too busy to call right away...has it been like weeks?
Might want to find someone that's easier to reach though. How about Mike at Flying Dragon?

Thanks, no it was just a few days but he answered right away and asked me for my phone number so he could call me. He had time to ask that right away and then no time to call ? It would have been better if he was busy to include in the email back he could not call for some time etc . Actually he could have just emailed me what the cost of the work was I wanted .It just seems odd he does not list a contact number . I will google flying dragon but this guy claims to specialize in the gun I have so it seemed the best fit

Do you have Mikes phone number ? Went to flying dragon filled out the long form , typed the request , email would not send !!!!! Why don't thses people just list a phone number Mad

And, why do you want someone else to work on your gun- just don't want to do it yourself? Can't get parts? Nervous about messing something up?

If you want to know about his work he has a big website , just google him.Why dot do it myself ? I wanted him to do the work because he is the expert in power builds for the Webly guns and if his figures are correct he has the best results I have seen . When I want a job done , I want the besat job and I am not a gunsmith with the tools training and experience he has had after working on lots of these . Some one out there must have talked with him on the phone ?

Well- let's get all technical for a minute:

The guy is talking about spring-powered guns. What's the limiting factor on how much power a springer can put out? Air movement. This is a direct result of piston swept volume as defined by chamber size and piston stroke.

So- how can this guy be producing numbers higher than anyone else in the world for the same gun? Easy answer- he can't- physics limits what can be done and there is no way around this short of a magic wand.

Another claim I have a problem with is "smoothest most powerful spring powered" - this a hedge of sorts? I.e. his are neither the most powerful or the smoothest, but are a compromise between the two (he can't be both- it's one or the other, or none). He seems to recognize this contradiction- but instead of addressing it, he throws out a "cake and eat it too" say-nothing statement. Perhaps what is not being stated is that the Webley rifles he works on are/were the most powerful springers available in the open market, he tunes them to smooth them out a bit, then makes a claim that sounds like he did all the work "purveyor of the world's smoothest most powerful spring powered rifles"- I find it a bit misleading.

He might do very good tune jobs, which is fine, but there seems to be alot of "marketing" and some misleading credit-taking talk on the website- claims that don't seem to be legitimate at first glance without further explanation, which is not being offered directly.

In any event, maybe the guy does wonderful tunes, but he seems to be playing with language to make himself sound like he's doing alot more than he is.

The Chrono would tell the tale .All rest is fine but is not relevant if I can not get him to talk about the job . I have a few things I do and always at once answer potential clients . I cannot afford to loose any , it appears he can . Maybe I need to check out what he does .Anyone teaching a course on doing these tunes and builds ? I am serious .

He is a Michigan based tuner who specializes in Patriot/Kodiak rifles.
I have shot his most powerful air rifles many times and know him personally,they are as he claims!
How he does it is his secret,but he does in fact make ton's of smooth shooting power.
Be patient.it will be worth the wait ! I had his number but he went thru a divorce and it has been changed.Sorry.

I had some snags getting a hold of him but it is all good now .My gun is on the way to him .He is even working on a way to make a Manlicher style stock for it , even though it is a break barrel as I Like the looks of those . I believe he can do what he claims .
