Thank you Dave and Bob for posting all the info on your builds!! I really appreciate it. Work has been keeping me really busy the past several days, sorry it took a while to respond.
Thank you Dave for the offer! I am buying a MicroLux 7 x 16 Mini Lathe this weekend and I will be ready to make some new parts soon! Unfortunately that bolt won’t work on my BNM repeater breach : ( !
So on your build you have fairly large transfer ports, which results in a higher initial flow to get the pellet moving. I think my problem is that the valve is not releasing enough air @ 1600 psi to allow the pellet to reach maximum velocity. I might increase the barrel port from .169 to .172 to see what kind of gains I would get.
So just out of curiosity I shimmed the regulator again and I was able to reach 954 fps at a little over 2000 psi using 25.4 kings. A lot of added stress on the 2260 tube so, I backed it down to 1800 psi. I will get some chrono numbers today. My guess is that it will be in the 900-915 range. Until I can make a new valve that allows for a larger throat diameter and transfer ports I will settle for a lower velocity... for now! I will post some pictures soon!
I hope you get the funds Dave! |
