Holy Crap!
I heard on the news that over 100 touched down yesterday. That weather system is arriving here today. |

They're still assembling the data - they think some of those might have been multiple observations of the same twister. Still, even if you cut that number down it's still a lot of tornadoes.
It was an amazing front - all the way from Oklahoma to Minnesota. We snuck in between cells and only got rain and wind. This morning we got snow as the humid air funneling up the pipeline hit the cold air behind the front. |

It was gnarly alright. I never seen the air turn white...like all the rain just went to vapor. It was so loud we didn't even hear that 4 foot diameter tree snap.
We faired well though. No house damage and nothing but a few limbs down. Lots of sticks to pick up, but it turned into a block party with much beer, and we got to meet a lot of our new neighbors. Being campers, we were pretty well set with a few lanterns and a small generator. We served three or four pots of coffee to all the neighbors Sunday morning.
Well, back to chainsawing....
cheers,
Rob |

Gettin' a start on next winter's firewood, I see?
All joking aside, glad to hear everyone (and the house) is alright! I remember years and years ago we had a twister come through (rare for Eastern Ontario). Flattened a swath 60-70 yards wide x 3/4 -1 mile long. My uncle's shed roof landed in our back yard, intact, and there is/was a mile of bush between us! Scary stuff for sure...

| our local news stated saturday and sunday we had a total of 122 spotted twisters . im lucky as i live close to kansas line . it missed me a few miles . but im 30 miles from joplin,mo and that was scary last year . when that 1 got done, my kid n i gathered up 4 yes 4 big pickup beds full of insulation , 1 large murphys irish pub beer sign and a heck of a bunch of medical records . next day i found a woman's edward jones investment statement. and id kinda love to be her best friend . all i can say is she could buy me ALL the best guns money could buy and not knock a dent in her money $$$$$ rich i mean rich . but glad you just have to do cleanup and not rebuild or loss of life . |

It couldn't have touched down, but I think an F-1 went overhead.
Ya we got lots of firewood...but no need for any more. Lots of dead wood in the wooded part of the yard and behind, now way too much.
( I'm sore from picking up sticks. ) |
