I recently bought a .22 Rws model 34 combo. I read alot of reviews about the scope not staying put. I'm having the same problem. The "lock down mount" didn't hold, so now I have of set of Leaper rings with 4 screws on each ring. It worked for a while, but now it's moving again. how in the heck can I keep the scope from sliding?? thanks Question

JB Weld. Or something less severe. Bolt lock-tight stuff, I forget what its called. Huh?

Or you could try roughing up the places where the mounts meet the rifle with a very fine file, that might help it hold a little.

It took me a little engineering to get the scope solid on my Viper, that's for sure.

Is there a hole in the tube? If so- use a single piece mount with a stop pin in the base (i.e. any of the CenterPoint once-piece units).

my d-34 in .177 keeps breaking mounts where they go to the dovetail or mount bar . im going to order a 1 piece mount . if the scope is slipping in the rings , i use black friction tape . you can find it at most hardware stores but dont tighten the screws too tight and collasp the scope tube. my 34 in .22 has the same mounts and the scope never moves . guess its because the bigger pellet absorbes more of the shock when you shoot. i dont know that just assuming it . but a moving scope = missed shots and mad shooters . like an old indian wisdom word for bad shot = vegatarian Very Happy

I stripped out the Rws lockdown mount trying to tighten it so it wouldn't move. I talked to Pyramid Air(which is where I bought it) and he sent me a set of UTG medium profile rings with 4 screws in each ring. I then had to shim the back ring because of barrel droop. I used a pop can shim wrapped with electrical tape. It seemed to work. After about 500 more shots, I'm seeing the shim start to come out under the back ring. PA suggested fine grit sand paper, but I like the friction tape idea better. thanks, I give it a try.
