Is anyone liberal here?
Aren't they all against owning guns by civilians? Not like total ban (or maybe banning firearms) but like Britain where owning gun is extremely difficult that it's like banning a gun. But British crime rate has increased so much after that.
Just like everyone said gun control wouldn't lead society any better.

Yeah, but it's the mentality of a country. In Switserland they are now changing the laws on soldiers bringing their gun home after a couple of suicide incidents. There will be less suicide attempts with a gun, that's for sure.

This is how politics work:

2010:
There are a 100 suicides. 10 of them are done with a firearm (of any kind).
As a result, guns are banned, also because a part of the people in the country want this.

2011:
There are a 100 suicides this year. 2 of them are done with a firearm. Banning guns has had a positive effect.

^^^Exactly right.
Gun control isn't about suicides or crime, that's just what they pump the media with to get their way.
An armed man is a citizen. An unarmed man is a subject.

cheers,
Rob

He can always move to Mexico, so far they have killed 40,000 or more people without guns and the Government only cries foul, only the Drug criminals have guns. Another case and point is just remind him Adolf Hitler had very good gun control and used the media to his advantage, how many people died from his gun control. Our freedom is bought and paid for in blood both past and present by US Service Men of which I am one(disabled veteran). ..PeashooterJoe

@Peashooterjoe:

I'm sorry, but saying that because the Nazis (or any other bad guy from history) did it it was a bad thing, just to prove a point is terrible argumentation.

There was already strict gun control in Germany before the Nazis had their rise to power.

"The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subject races to possess arms. History shows that all conquerors who have allowed their subject races to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by so doing. Indeed, I would go so far as to say that the supply of arms to the underdogs is a sine qua non for the overthrow of any sovereignty. So let's not have any native militia or native police. German troops alone will bear the sole responsibility for the maintenance of law and order throughout the occupied Russian territories, and a system of military strong-points must be evolved to cover the entire occupied country." --Adolf Hitler, dinner talk on April 11, 1942, quoted in Hitler's Table Talk 1941-44:

I'm going to agree, that's a terrible argument. I see what you're going for, but that isn't a smart angle. It's a dumb one.

Guns were already banned in Germany, partly because they lost World War 1. If you are talking about measures taken during war, they do not apply. When you occupy a country, the last thing you want is the people you are occupying to have guns. But this has nothing to do with Nazis and you know it.

Guns were banned in Iraq during what some see as American occupation. According to your argumentation that means that you're a bunch of Nazis. If that's your viewpoint, that's okay. But I still tend to see the citizens of the USA as one of the last free peoples on the front of gun ownership.

I'm not against you. I am pro gun owning, I believe citizens should rather fear their government then the other way around and citizens should be free to defend themselves, but I think your argument is flawed. 's all I'm saying.

The Nazis like any other faction used prior history, it is the idea that governments can control the citizens when unarmed. Every dictator since has employed the same principles to control the population. Remember that Moammar Gadhafi used the same ideas on his people and the armed citizens prevailed in the end.
I've been all over the world and have seen it first hand in third world countries that used the same agenda. My ancestors fought in the War of 1776 and later the WWI,WWII and Iraq for freedom. We paid our Dues for a free world..End of Discussion..Now lets get out and shoot.. Smile Peashooterjoe

The only people gun control is going to hurt are the people that obey the law. That alone makes gun control a bad law as it hurts the obedient and honest.

The only people gun control is going to help is those that break the law as they will only have to contend with the police if and when they are caught. that makes gun control a bad law as it helps criminals.

Instead of gun control the government should make harsher laws for crimes with guns and actively enforce those laws including remove the rights of those law breakers.
