When you mount a scope it should be pretty dead center over the barrel correct?

Mine offsets the center of the barrel by as much as 1/8 of an inch.

the rifle is a Crosman 1077 and scope is 4x32AO bushnell scope with the 3/8 dovetail.

I noticed that when I clamp down the scope mounts that they don't sit nice and flush like I am sure it should.

I see the solution is to Dremel cut the dovetail so it lets the scope come over the center of the barrel but I figured I would ask if its supposed to be offset before I go Dremel crazy.

It is supposed to be over the center of the barrel but with scope rails varying so much on different airguns, and cheap scope mounts that are made to fit 11-13mm rails no wonder some scopes don’t line up.

I tend to clamp both mounts on a 1” bar and file the together to make sure they match, you would be better with a triangle file than a dremel.

I think its most important that everything is parallel. I think of how scopes were mounted on M1 Garand rifles they were quite offset.

Yeah thats what I thought it should be . Dead center.

Wish I had a dovetail cutter for my mill, I would just mill it off but the Dremel and knife file should do the trick.

Thanx guys

Man that was hard but finally centered. Had to make half dovetail shim and it was thin very hard and painful to do.
