Air Gun Home Forum Index » Airgun Smithing » Any ideas?    View previous topic :: View next topic  Any ideas?   Posted: Tue Mar 20, 2012 12:23 pm Dartssnake Member Joined: 17 Feb 2012 Posts: 28 Location: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania USA All, I have been shooting my 2240 a lot recently, as I began testing out some modest modifications, and I have come across a perplexing problem: Something near the rear frame screw and the inlet for it is gouging the web of my thumb, enough to break the skin (over an extended shooting period.) Rubbing my thumb, etc. over the area of the gun responsible is telling me nothing. Does anybody have a mod or idea that could possibly reduce the irritation/rubbing to this area? I was contemplating something removable, such as a shield or cap to fill the entire inlet. I have a pic of the affected area of my hand, but nowhere to post it so I could link it... I have been a (powder) 1911 shooter for years, so my habit is to hold high on the grip frame, as close to the centerline of the bore as possible, as if I'm making sure the grip safety is deactivated. _________________ Fast is fine, but accuracy is everything. Is there a rough ridge down the middle of the "backstrap" (formed when it was die cast)?
