I bought a Crosman Quest 1000X a few months ago. I live in an urban area, but have seen a few squirrels and the occasional possum near my garbage cans. I have tuned and sighted the Crosman and it really gets the job done. Only problem is it makes more noise than I would like. I was leaning towards the Gamo Whisper Stalker IGT, but I recently read that Gamo isn't too good of a company. I would like any suggestions for a quiet air rifle.
Thanks... |

I would suggest the Daisy 880. It might look like a toy, but it's a great squirrel getter.
. quiet
. accurate
. easy to pump
. light weight
. low price |

I bought a 5" muzzle brake(silencer, really) for my Benjamin Discovery and its so quiet, I thought the gun wasnt firing properly for the first few shots... its that silent. The loud crack it used to make turned into a little "ping," as I could hear the hammer hitting the valve now. In fact, the impact of the pellet hitting the wooden target is louder than the shot itself.
Try looking for a gun that either comes with a shrouded barrel(one with baffles), or something that can fit an aftermarket muzzle brake.
On a side note, I heard good things about the Gamo Whisper in terms of accuracy... well at least for those of you who have gotten used to break barrel recoils. |
