Bought this a while back as a "parts/basket case". Someone had made the co2 block previously. At the time I received it, it was retained by two wobbly 8-32 grub screws and an 1/8" pin in double shear. Seller claimed he was running it on 1400psi.
Made a new tube and insert piece for the bottle mount block. New tube and securements are 3000psi capable...without breaking stride.
Lightened striker, Nylatron valve stem, skeletonized the aluminum part of the valve body, some miscellaneous valve work, Teflon transfer port. Sanded stock down and re-finished. Made the stock extender.
Cleaned up the leade and tp area, did an 11 degree target crown...centered on the bore. Think it still needs an airstripper..maybe in conjunction with a barrel tuner.
Added the "Al Stone" power adjuster, and received my scope (Center Point 6-24 x 50AO) and rings in the post the other day. Going to play with it a bit and then break it down and do the bluing over.

Nice job Al, Especially the stock finish and the butt plate, which make's it look very mean.

Great looking rifle!!! I've become a fan of that type of stock and thumb hole stocks since purchasing my FX400. When I shoulder a regular stock now it feels "flat". |

Thanks fellas.
Set the regulator up tonight...Thank you Eric...bumped the pressure to where I've induced partial valve lock...by ear this seems to have cut out the last of the striker bounce...we'll see.
Will hopefully be running some strings in the morning...give that power adjuster a try.
I sure hope this thing likes predators.
Al
Edit: Too windy this AM to do groups...chrony readings are virtually identical with the adjuster @ max or min.
Will see if I can further lighten the striker and increase valve spring strength.
Have enough oomph so I won't increase transfer port diameter. |

Seeing as how this topic has been pulled up- how has that CenterPoint scope worked out? I have not carried all the available units (mainly because the Canadian price concerns me) but am thinking of changing that... |

Have the same scope on two AT-44's, the 79 and a Crosman inspired home built. I'm either REALLY lacking in imagination, or I like them.
A "decent" scope for the money IMO...touch on the heavy side though.
Finally started on that stripper/tuner today...will be a three or four flute stripper in aluminum, with the tuner portion covering the mounting...essentially flush with the muzzle. The tuner will be threaded for adjustment along the stripper body. Going to be an interesting project I'm thinking.

That specific scope is actually discontinued, the highest magnification CenterPoint now offers is 20x model. |
