I voted no. I have never had an airgun scope problem with the scope itself yet--only with keeping them from skidding down the rail on the receiver, which was fixed by fabricating metal pins to lock one or the other of the rings to a hole in the receiver. But all my airgun mounted scopes have been intended for airguns.

I just watched the video and I'm thinking--if he has pellets going all over the place and he knows about it, why in heaven is he still shooting through his chronograph with no shielding in front of it? Of course it will get smashed.

I was wondering the same thing. I've got polycarbonate shields on my F1 on the front panel and rear photo eye housing in case I get stupid. (Scraps from the local glass place, held on with velcro.)

Another 'no' vote, not once. Even on magnums.
Correct scope selection, and mounting, IMO should never yield damage..

After the comments here I was too scared to come back and reply haha. It is my video.

Remember I wasn't looking at it zoomed in with 40x slo mo vision and the pellets that actually left a mark are pretty close to my aim, I'm to left of camera so those hitting to the right are not as far right as it would seem. Yes its my fault for shooting the chrony I will concede that point though (new one was only $160 BTW).

Its a bit too rooted to bother fixing up its now gone through 2 springs and a scope (not to mention 1000 sparrows) but I made one last vid with this rifle before retiring it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYm_tI7mbBw critique away :P

Takes guts to admit a mistake. And hey we all get an errant shot once in a while- just too bad that it ruined your equipment! Loved the slowmo shots- as it really hit home as to the Massive amount of recoil these actually produce. I have just started shooting a springer, but I am used to recoil (12 guage trap shooter for more years than I care to admit too).

Whoever you are you have been beat up enough. Please, everyone, use and/or acquire some common sense to use and study marksmanship rules and practices and use them as well. Even with airguns we are all dealing with deadly technology and it needs to be respected. Possibly even feared.
