Was ready to HPA the 850, but I keep going back to the marauder. I haven't bought accessories yet, but wanted to know what others thought. The marauder looks less menacing to the public, less possible issues with government, and can take a sling. Main use has been target, but originally bought it for starling and sparrows.
Does anyone have any comments or thoughts? I want to stay .177 in case target shooting comes into play. .22 or .25 will be a rainstorm |

If yuo're looking for sparrow and starling, you'll need something that has enough power and accuratcy for at least 25+ yards. And for target shooting, you'll want to get one in .177 for keeping costs down for pellets, and having a large selection of differemt types.
I think the Marauder is a good choice for target practice, and more than enough power and accuratcy to take out sparrows from 40+ yards. All you'll need is a good 16x scope to make sure you see them clearly. |

Since you are planning on staying with .177, on either the 850 or MRod, limit yourself to the 10.2-10.6 gr. pellets.... Lighter pellets in either gun will be too high in velocity to produce good accuracy unless you detune the gun to Disco levels....
I have found a practial upper limit for pellets to be about 950 fps.... At that velocity, the FPE is double the pellet weight.... ie with 10.2-10.6 gr. pellets you will be about 20-21 FPE.... The FT shooters often detune to about 18-19 FPE with ~10 gr. pellets for best accuracy....

| Nothing wrong with HPA on he AM850- but it might end up costing a few bucks. Does Texas now have issues with airguns (you mention appearance and possibly legal issues)? |

Does Texas, I hope not, does the bunny hugger that catches a glimpse of a high powered sniper rifle with a dangerous attachments and sniper scope, probably. I was referring to removable and intent on the federal level.
I already have the B&A adapter, so all I would need to do is cut up the stock, buy the tank and reg, and install.
it seems to put CPHP, Ultra magnums, redfires, and predators in the same place at the distance I am shooting. Redfires relocate spinal cords very well.
Shawnhu, CP 4-16x40, or a BSA mil/mil ffp will be the scope I mount, unless I decide to go scope cam. then it will probably be something smaller. |
