I got fed up 'n tired of trying to tear up the Regulator on my Twinmaster so I went ahead and took of a great deal of wood from my Discovery's stock. Also stripped it a bit, and thinking of either oiling or waxing or whatever-ing it. Whaddya guys think?

| Now it looks like an old muzzleloader I had called a Hopkins and Allen. It was an over and under. 50 cal+ 12 ga. It kicked like a mule no matter which barrel you were using. |

| What, a muzzleloader? I think you pulled it off if that is the look you were going for. |

Not to sure about your modifications, maybe when it's waxed.

| Doesn't it force the forward hand too close to the receiver area to be stable? I can't hit squat, standing, unless I put a hand well forward to guide the barrel so it doesn't wobble a bunch. |

I can technically fire this rifle one-handed, pulling it up into my shoulder, but it works better with the normal open sights then with a scope. When I do use two hands, my elbow rests on my hip but my fingers or hand are mostly on the trigger guard for support. This gun is way to light anyway. Look at the other rifle in the PIC, that's heavy.
I never minded front heavy that much, because I feel it allows for a nice shot-cycle. |

In competitive shooting the supporting hand is usually pretty close to the trigger guard. My army buddy gave me the same tip
That looks a lot like a really old single shot .22 my friend has, and actually a lot of rifles from around then! |

On first glance it's looking a bit like a Sharps Shiloh. All it needs is some replica furniture for the guard
And I must agree I support pretty close to the guard as well

| Must be just me, I'm too wobbly when I do that. But anyway, it's cool! |

Oops, read over that comment I guess.
Well, yep. The only thing that would really finish it for me would be an old fashioned pre 1900 military grip like but the stock on a disco doesn't lend itself well for that sort of thing and at the moment I'm not looking to put THAT much work into it. |
