Now that winters here and I do love Co2 guns the only problem is low temperatures and it’s effect on Co2, I find out that I can shoot reasonably well down to 50 Deg F but below that things start to fall apart.

So I bought a Sticky backed liquid crystal Temperature sticker, stuck it on the Co2 reservoir and it tells me the gas temperature, the gauge is fairly quick reacting so if it goes off the scale I have to wait for it to come back before shooting again.

I find this cheap gauge which cost $3.00 an ideal piece of kit, because you have a good idea what the temperature outside is but not the Co2 which can be a lot lower.

Nice idea Al

I like CO2 as well for the unbelievable amount of shooting I can do on a fill.

How well do think it will work for us colonists over here in Canada?.....It was a balmy -21 on Wednesday

T Shirt weather Mr. Green

Cheers! The temperature strips come with both Celsius and Fahrenheit so you can cut it down the middle and use it on two guns, I think they are sold for checking the temperature of beer in home brewing kits in the UK. So they have two good uses. Mr. Green

Hmmm beer. They have those for propane tanks also. It's been plus 6,7,9 Celcuis here on the island. Smile

Don't let Al fool you- now he won't be able to tell if the guppies in his fish tank are too warm or too cold. Razz

On the top: To warm.

In the middle: Ok

On the bottom: Dead

Easy Peasy! Mr. Green

The temperature strip worked well but a bit slow, so I ordered a Digital display the idea was to let it into the stock and strap a sensor to the Co2 tube, the first display I got on EBay for $2.00 the black one, but this also did not change temp display fast enough, about 5 minutes to drop 2* C.

So I bought a quality display (Silver) this is very fast, accurate and small, the only problem was the price $45.00, still if it doesn’t work I have another use for it. All I need to do now is cobble it all together and fit it in the stock.

Where is it going to go Al? Under the forearm?

If it will work, inlaying in the stock would be pretty neat. You have enough "meat" in the stock to not lose any measurable amount of strength/stability?

If you want fastest, you could always still go directly to a pressure gauge. Prolly a pain to connect though, huh?

The meter is mounted by a 6mm stud that the wires also pass through, it only stands 3/16" proud, so it should look a neat job.

Radar

Pressure gauges don't work very well with Co2 as the pressure is always around 850 psi depending upon temperature, but a temperature gauge can tell you alot more information and give you some idea if your power is dropping or going up.

On the left hand side just above the hand grip hopefully.

A pressure gauge would work OK, but the resolution required is a PITA.... CO2 is 652 psi @ 50*F, 747 psi @ 60*F, 853 psi @ 70*F, 969 psi @ 80*F, and over 1100 psi @ 90*F.... so you would need a gauge that is easily read to within 50 psi....

How about using a digital pressure sensor and a microprocessor that you can program to display the velocity at different pressures.... Mr. Green
