| Thanks for the replies. I'm going to go with the Trail .177. I like the idea of using the heavier pellet and getting the same FPS as the NPSS would get with normal pellets. |

They are great rifles for sure If you get one thats performing properly . Just be aware of the " 1500 " fps . You may not get close to it , or , you maybe one of the lucky few . Check my numbers on the XL1100 . Something wrong for sure but imho , these rifles should be checked and documented right from the factory . |

I recently purchased the trail np xl 1500. I have found that ANY PELLET less than 10 grains. Shoot erratic. My experience is that the crossman premier 10.5 shoot best. Still not as good as I would like ( average 3/4" at 10 meters.)
At 10 meters I should be 1/4". BUT THE GUN IS LESS THAN A WEEK OLD.
Less than 200 pellets through it so far. Also, I get it sighted in an then it will shift group a half inch or more. Still. 3/4" group but shift in location on the target??????!
Good luck |

| Is it your first break barrel or do you have lots of experience with them? |

I've never shot with either air rifle but I do own a .22 Benjamin NP trail (the under 500 fps version). I find that it's pretty consistent once you get the scope lined up and hold it steady on target. The trigger is adjustable but I feel needs a mod. What mods are available for the Remington rifle? Isn't there an adjustable trigger mod for the Benjamin rifle?
I don't notice the difference in recoil or the loudness of the shot from my Benjamin but then again my rifle isn't an XL. The NP claims to have less recoil & sound.
I'd like to see what the actual velocity is from a Benjamin XL with a .177 pellet. I bet it screams. |

I did a quick bit of research and crosman claims 1200fps with a 7.9gr lead pellet..so...
In order to stay just barely below the transonic you should be trying a pellet thats 13gr and up.
pellets that pass through the transonic will be very unstable |

| I like PCP's a lot but I'll never get rid of my XL .22 unless it completely falls apart, which I can't see. If I do my part it is damn accurate with every pellet I've tried. 5 shots into a small ragged hole at ten yards with Crosman/Benjamin pointed/domes/ hp's, HN ft, Polymags, JSB 15.9 grain and 18.1 grain, pretty sure a few others I can't remember off hand. Kills range up to a little over 50 yards with the shots landing close enough to the x for me to not be able to tell if it was off, with all of those pellets (most in the 30 yard range) |
