Not a bad choice for a first time springer. As far as springers go they are pretty ok, just let it break in properly before you expect the best accuracy. Spring guns are in general more or less pretty durable.
Whether you spent $60 or $6000, Its your money, your choice, & now, your rifle. I don't believe you'll get any flak on this forum about that, cuz a few members have that same gun.

The Crosman Phantom is a really nice air rifle. You got it for a bargain! The accuracy is surprisingly great, considering the price. It is also suitable for Pest Control, and Small Game Hunting.

However, if you do have the money, you may want to upgrade the scope the scope a little bit.

Great gun and a good choice.

Very reliable and lots of inexpensive mods you can do to make it even better.

The folks here have guns ranging from $20 pieces of garbage to guns that cost as much as my car. The only rules are to be safe and have fun.

You asked this same question over in the introduction section - see comments there.

Do a search here on the forum- there is plenty of information/reviews on the Phantom 1000 (or Quest 1000, or G1 or Remington Summit - they are all the same gun with different stocks).

Nice first choice! I've got a Quest myself. Don't be afraid to take it apart, break barrel springers are pretty simple, and the one you have is easy to open up. Do a search for de-burr and lube tune once she's open, you'll notice the difference after.

Oh yeah. Better mainspring sometimes, polish the cylinder, the piston seals can be upgraded, improve the transfer port improve the trigger pull...this stuff is really tuning more than modding, but you can do all kind of cool things so long as you are really, really careful and know what you are doing 100% beforehand. Lots of reading to do. You don't want to wreck the gun or get hurt.

polishing the cylinder sounds like a good idea... cuz after i cock the spring, and the barrel is loose, i can feel / hear something scrapping the inside when i move it back and forth.. im hoping this is normal for the phantom :/

Don't be looking at another spring or "polishing" the chamber.

#1: You can only push so much air through any given platform- the mainspring in the Phantom is about at its maximum already- you could spend $30.00 on some aftermarket spring to gain maybe 5% in power, which you could also achieve with 50 cents worth of washers.

#2: Polishing the chamber is a really bad idea, period. Ideally, the chamber has a cross-hatch pattern like end engine cylinder to allow the piston seal to mate to it effectively and provide a proper seal. Polishing it will actually lose power- if you plan to do anything to the chamber, hone it with a ball hone to give it a proper cross-hatch.

Ha ha dont worry about being a noob. Everybody was a noob.

Don"t misinterpret what Eric said. He gave you very sound advice but he didn't say...."don"t mod the gun"

Modding is almost the essence of this hobby, but before you start know WHY your doing it.

So my best advice is enjoy the gun for awhile and read lots and ask some questions.

That rattling you hear after you cock the gun is the cocking arm rattling in the cocking slot. Deburring and polishing that slot and the tip of the arm is a very good mod.

I have the storm XT, which is the same as the phantom with a cheap scope. The stock is a different color too. I've had it 3 years and it has held up well. Yours should last too.
