Wasnt sure where to post this but figured more people would see it in this section so forgive me it its wrong.

When I was a kid growing up my neighbor had a little BB rifle that was quite unique and Im trying to find out what it was so I can look for another one to buy if I ever find one. I dont know the model or brand. All I can tell you about it is that to cock it the barrell retracted straight into the breach to compress the spring and then it pulled back out and had kind of a detented feel when it stopped and latched. The other thing I remember was that the bbs loaded in the stock somewhere I think. It had a little more power than my little daisy lever action too. I thought the stock was one peice but wont swear to it.

Anyone have any ideas what it may have been?

Did it look like an M1 Carbine? Crosman made a replica gun that cocked as you describe.

I have always wanted that Crosman M1 carbine model, I have never seen one for sale

Thanks for the info and the picture. I bet youre right. Just this afternoon I was sort of thinking M1 for some reason. I doubt there were too many other models made like that. Like the article said, many were missing the magazines and Im pretty sure his was too. It was also missing the front sight so a machine screw was used to replace that. It never worked very good either. It also felt quite heavy like the article says and was hard to cock. I remember him many times jamming the barrel into something to cock it. I bet if he knew then what it would have been worth today he may have took better care of it.

Any guess what these things bring in good condition? I feel like I need to have one someday. I belive I may start looking.

When I was a wee lad I had a Crosman 760. My best friend's dad was a business owner and told his son to just go to the hardward store and pick out a BBgun then he would stop in later to pay for it (we lived in a rather small town). My friend picked out the M1 and off we went to do some shooting. I was always a bit green with envy looking at my 760 VS his M1. Those were the days when all the stocks were fine wood...
