It's illegal in my town to discharge a BB or pellet gun within the city limits, so I don't shoot outside in my yard. Those rabbits messing up my wife's garden must have been hit by a stone flung by a car tire.

Slavia,I think you solved the mystery, concerning that feral pigeon that was found expired next to my wife's flower pot.Funny....it looks just like the one that crapped on the back of my neck recently..... Razz Mr. Green

not so much when i had my crosman 2100 classic... although some neighbors would seldom complain and have asked me to shoot elsewhere. my backyard is like a piece of a pie along with other neighbors so i normally wouldnt shoot when people are around.

now, however, i dont shoot around my house anymore. i recently bought a crosman nitro venom, and the thing looks just like a real gun with the scope! just to be safe, i bought a rifle case and i only go shooting out in the woods. i doubt i'll ever run into any mischief this way... but it really does limit my shooting. instead of being able to shoot every day around the house, im limited to one or two sessions a week now since i work full time.

i swear 10 years ago people werent as paranoid...

Say viper2788, how about trying to shoot your Venom out one of your windows into your backyard. I for one would like to know how long it takes the police to arrive Laughing

Seriously, everytime I head out into my backyard with my airguns I'm conscious of my neighbors. From a distance most airguns look pretty realistic.

Hey SureShot & viper,

I take it You 2 don't have 6' privacy fence around your backyards...?
FWIW: I've got Such a 6' fence around my whole backyard, which actually goes up 1 side, to even with the front of my house...= AWESOME! Smile Cool
Yes it was alot of money but worth Every single dollar. Wink

So, the only way for the neighbors to see anything would to climb up a ladder, just to look over my fence.... Razz Cool

Here’s a thought for you guys and girls that have to worry about neighbors.

Get your skill (circular/ power) saw out make a few cuts so the neighbors think your building something. Then shoot a way with your pellet guns.

If anybody ask about your air gun report, tell them that you have a air nail/staple gun.Evil Plot

Now for those that have a loud pellet guns, get a 22 nail gun a pop a few nails into a board so the neighbors will again think your building something.

Heck while your at it build the neighbors a bird house for their yard. It wouldn’t have to be very pretty or anything fancy. Just act like your really proud of the bird house and would be delighted if they put it up in their backyard. Rolling Eyes

In fact make it as ugly as you can. It serves your neighbor right for such a$$ about shooting your bb gun. Who knows, a target might move into it. Mr. Green

It might work. Here in Minnesota established shooting ranges have to limit gunfire to the hours of 0700 to 2200. A cranky neighbor once called the sheriff to report gunfire before 0700 - it was guys building a shed with nail guns.

Plausible deniability through acoustic camouflage.

nope...got hundreds of acres to my front open land...lots of open acres on all side ...not uncommon to hear gunshots here; i do hafta be careful of neighbors houses, though.

it is against county and state ordinances to shoot here, though...but by the time the sheriff could get here...well...let's say there plenty of time to clean up and secrete anything you'd need to.

My back yard, though I am in the city. But I back up to a huge park/greenbelt where urban bow hunting is allowed with a permit. (They harvested 57 deer out of there in the last 3 years.) Lucky me.

IF I may ask:
What City and State are you in that you can't even shoot in your own yard?!
We are aloud to here in Suffolk, Va., YOU just have to make sure NO Pellets\bbs go out of your yard.
Wink
Also for the comment about being in the books forever.... Don't think like that because just this Year BOTH Chesapeak and Portsmouth just changed their laws about this, so PEPS can once again shoot in their own yards! Very Happy

Yes our great Governor signed into law that all citizens can shoot their air guns on their own property to stop the cities from trying to make it illegal here in VA. I have just over a half acre and try to shoot daily. Getting harder now that it gets dark before I can get home. Evil or Very Mad

Thanks, we just moved here. I am very careful to mind my backstops, but AFAIK it's legal.

Heehee...It is. The yard is actually rectangular, so there are increasing depth of woods on each side as you go down toward the RR tracks. The dog loves to crash through there at night and scare out racoons.
